Another thing I just noticed : on Nova Rock's line up, there are Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, band of Chris Shifflet...from Foo Fighters. Don't you think it certainly rules out Foo Fighters and confirms we'll have to wait til 2018 ?

Me First & the Gimme Gimmes and Foo Fighters both played on the same bill at Pukkelpop 2012.

Last time they played in Madrid, Chris Shifflet and Fat Mike were replaced By Bad Religion bassist and another punk guitar player (cant remember who) MFATGG is an open band where lot of punk musicians have played

According to the dates of some bands, I thing the headliners line up could be like this.

Thursday : SOAD

Friday : Radiohead

Saturday : another band (Linking Park ? PJ ?)

Sunday : Green Day or another band

SOAD can't play on sunday  (Hannover show) and if they play saturday, that would be 3 shows in 3 days. Green Day can't play on saturday (Hyde Park show).

Seems possible for you guys ?

Nice estimation I think. Would love to have them all (except Linkin Park).

Pearl Jam on a Saturday evening sounds just right! *fingers crossed* :)

Seems to be a bit to much rock for werchter from the last few years.

SOAD as headliners? KoL will probably be there too sadly,  They never had 3 years off in a row..

I reckon SOAD could headline with a very strong dance-act like Daft Punk or Gorillaz.....or as a co-headliner with a band like Kings of Leon

Just don't get appeal of KOL.  A band that appeared far too often at every festival and their performances gave the impression they were totally bored with it themselves.

I agree but for some reason they played in six of the last 10 edition. Maybe they're not as expansive as other headlining-level acts?

Well, I figure it's all about the budget, but in my opinion they should go for bands that people enjoy seeing/didn't get bored of already and who create some kind of an atmosphere. About KoL, I didn't expect to hear they were quite a bad live act.. :(

Dont worry, they arent bad,  they're just dull;). They sounds much like in their album + nice visual show and a big crowd sing along in Sex On Fire chorus. Im sure there are acts worse than that :P

In terms of signing acts,  RW doesn't mind to book acts repeatedly,  they book whatever they think will sell and make a good program within the limit of their budget. Maybe most of the festival goers doesnt mind about repeating acts and its those that go there every year (us..) who have problems with it.

Ha, thanks for the clarification. I should just wait until I see them. :P

I'd have some requests if they don't mind repeating acts... Noel Gallagher was not there for the last 2 editions, would be nice to have him. And also 30STM would be something to be repeated... maybe they're not everyone's favs but I still remember what a good time I had when I saw them. I see that in the last 10 years they only played RW twice.

Anyway, I'll go back to the PJ topic... after looking over the previous headlines I'm getting my hopes high that they are a most likely act for 2017. :)

Oh I forgot to add that they can book  and should book Pearl Jam every year!! Forget about the moaning over repeated bookings :P

P.S - Noel G played in 2015 and is working on a new album so he might reapear..

They were pretty decent when they first appeared but seemed to play every festival every year.  They became repetitive and released albums too quickly.  I saw them indoors in Aberdeen a few years back and it was dire.  Looked like a band going through the motions and totally bored playing.  Think last time I saw them briefly was at TITP.  Just awful.

Their last few albums haven't sold too well and if they get a headline slot at any festival it's based on the past as opposed to where they are just now.  If they appear, they really should be a second or third on the bill.  That said, I wouldn't watch them again unless there was absolutely nothing else on and I could find a spot to clear off if I felt myself starting to sleep.

If that's the criteria you're going by then most headliners wouldn't be topping the bill. Hey would radiohead or pear jam be headliners if album sales were your criteria.

I managed to avoid KOL headlining the likes of Glasto, reading etc etc. Saw them the last time they played werchter and went down very well.

If they play they will at the bare minimum will Co headline.

Used that as example of how their star had fallen.  They're nowhere near as popular as they were five years ago.  I'd say Radiohead and PJ are at least as popular as they were then, if not more

Even if Kings of Leon were really so-so in 2013, cause too repetitive, not enough envy etc, I found they were excellent in 2014, and the light show with their music was magical... (and in my opinion, Arctic Monkeys who headlined on Friday looked poor compared to KOL and Metallica, and I don't even speak about Pearl Jam cause you know :P ) So I'd be happy to get them again in 2017 as cohead, cause if I compare to the headliners of this year, I prefer their show of 2014 to the shows of Florence, Red Hot and Rammstein this year. Maybe because Rock Werchter 2014 was much better than RW16 (FACT).

I've seen them twice in RW. The first time, I was in the pit with teenagers so, even it the show wasn't awesome, the atmosphere was ok. The last time, it was boring as fuck. The problem isn't their music, just their way to be on stage.

I better wait till I see them and don't draw any conclusions. :)

Those kids always manage to do something and get things moving. I've seen it happen in other concerts, and no matter how the band is (maybe we find it awful), but their joy and good mood spreads and they make you tag along and have a pretty good time. :P

How quick will day tickets for radiohead sell out? Instantly or a few weeks, never paid much attention  to day tickets for werchter.

I'm thinking of doing radiohead day at werchter or main square. Even though main square would be easier I don't know much about that fest.
