We needed a new committee at roller derby tonight and I was elected chairman, when on earth did I get so old and sensible and what on earth does a chairman do ? Oh FFS this is all far too grown up for me. !

This is a very good point!!  So mr @Scruffylovemonster... After the grief you have given @Quark, (as we some of us have done ) maybe you need to do a bit to plead forgiveness!! The r*** word shall not be mentioned in these parts.

Just make sure meetings end on time,  most important role by far.  I ended up as chairman (chair? chairperson?) of a committee because I wasn't quick enough at thinking of an excuse not to do it.  Was crap at it as well!

Morning All! Seems I missed quite a bit last night what with the cheesy hedgehogs, elected chair persons (congrats btw!) and the NFR NFC values shaken to their core. 

Today is a new day people and our foundations remain strong. Quarky had no more than a wobble, and it's at times like these we must rally together and support one another.

I'm now midway into my holiday from work, and I'm not sure what to do today. Hmm. I'm thinking spa. It's included in my sports centre membership and seeing as I can't make much use of the gym or squash courts atm I'm thinking why not! Although haven't been to the spa on my own before. Decisions, decisions!

It's the most awesome sport played mainly by women ( but men's roller derby is growing ) , contact sport on roller skates ( quads ) .... Erm Have you seen the film Whipit ?

3. There's a roller derby group here. I like skating but I think that's a bit much for me!

The refs (zebra's) are also on skates... so for anyone that loves skating, and loves the game (its so amazing and brings so many people together- a brilliant community) but doesn;t want to play the actual game then reffing is a great way to go.. and if anyone wants to be part of the game, and can;t skate there is always a shortage of NSO's (Non skate officials) ---- everyones important ...

I'm thinking of converting to reffing as the old bones are starting to ache more and more lol ... but I don't want to give to give it up as its such an inclusive sport and such a buzz

I think if I was to get involved, I'd have to get properly stuck in! Not sure I have time though, what with choir and life in general...!

Hello all, not been in much recently as real life was getting in the way and still suffering festival withdrawal symptoms - although no physical injuries like most of you lot seem to have - hope everyone's sore bits are getting better.  Just been catching up

1 Camembert hedgehogs - I need these in my life

2 Gods - glad Quark has seen the error of his ways - all praise the SUN gods

3 Sounds like loads of us were at John Grant - we could have had a mini nfr meet

4 enjoy Kendal calling to those off there this weekend; and

5 peace love and happiness to everyone else (and also because lists should be an odd number)

That looks pretty mental, I'm guessing injuries are par for the course...

I do know of the film Whipit but have never watched it. I had no idea it was about Roller Derby!

Yes :-) And actually you end up being proud of your bruises (Derby Kisses) and we have a gallery of bruises on our members fb page - even better if they are wheel shaped :-).

Before I played I hated most sports. didn't have a competitive bone in my body and defiantely no aggression (I hate boxing and can't think of anything worse than hitting someone) , but for some reason body checking someone off the track on a pair of skates seems fair :-). Tuesday nights I can't sleep after training as I'm so hyped - or relieved I've made it through another session. 

I've never met a more eclectic, amazing group of supportive girls in all my life, before playing Derby most of of mates were lads, but there's no judgement over anything in Derby, you come play, you try your best, you are encouraged !

It does sound like a lot of fun and pretty full on! It could only be improved if each skater was allowed to carry a broom handle to trip people up with!
