But, planned the calendar out until Christmas and have enough gigs to keep me happy! Pilton Party (King Eider, Blossoms, Fatboy), Always The Sun fest in Guildford (Allergies, Dub Pistols, Hugh Cornwell, Turin Brakes), then Honeyblood, Chainska Brassika, Bear's Den and finally Ferocious Dog supporting Levellers to round off the year.

Should see me through to Christmas! :yahoo:

This is what I need to do - aside from holiday's I dont have anything else on for the rest of the year, and I have no musical ventures booked in at all. This needs addressing.

This thread is moving slowly today. Are we all out having real life fun? Today I have mostly been to Whitby, then to the clubhouse to play musical bingo and actual bingo. I did not win however I feel like a winner as I have drank lots of wine already and having a laugh trying to keep the tent from blowing away!

Evening CG, :) we have been having fun today, as it goes. I caught a bus this morning with gumby jr to Yeovil, for one of the 'national play days' that have been organised around the country, to promote the idea of free community activities for children during the summer holidays. Now, on the whole, I really dislike Yeovil, but it has a really nice country park which is perfect for this kind of thing. Gumby jr got to explore inside a real fire engine, he met lots of exotic animals (boa constrictor, scorpions, tarantulas, tree frogs, leaf insects, bearded dragon), he tried circus skills (hula hooping, stilt walking, tightrope), he made a moth magnet (decorated glass jar with a tea light inside), and loads more. He really made me proud, how well he behaved with the other kids and the animals. :) It was a bit like being back at glasto with him, seeing him so excited by all the things to try.

After that, we did a bit of shopping, including finding him a new paddling pool to replace his 'baby' one, which is small and tends to deflate, and some brewing bits in preparation for the coming harvest. Last year, I made 'hedgerow port', using sloes, elderberries, blackberries and dried cherries, but I only made a small batch. This year, I'm planning to go for 30 bottles, so there should be plenty left next summer to bring some to the meet (ticket gods willing!)

Sounds like a day well spent :)

Might have to pick your brains on the booze front Gumby, got a modest but potentially useful grape crop building up in the garden, and was debating having a crack at knocking up some hooch!  Got some decent hedgerows around here, certainly sloes and blackberries, so was looking to use them to bulk out the grapes....

Gumby that sounds like a lovely day! I bet Gumby Jr had an amazing time :) And so did you by the sounds of it!

Been busy here, it's choir concert day on sunday and I really need to brush up on a few of the words! Looking forward to it though, it's an all day event and we're not on til the evening, so there will be time for some sitting in the sun (hopefully) with a picnic and some gin! Super!

To be honest, grapes are one fruit I haven't tried yet! The principle is the same with any fruit, apart from a few that aren't really suitable for wine making, but grapes are by far the most popular, simply because they naturally have good levels if tannin and pectin in them, so you don't generally need to add loads of minerals and chemicals to get a decent result.

If you're new to it, I'd recommend this book https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/1854861395/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1470303994&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=wine+making+books

It has a good basic intro, and then it goes through the year month by month, with recipes for the fruit that's in season.

Thumbs up to that man!  If I turn up to the meet clutching a couple of bottles of unlabelled unidentifiable stuff, I'll blame you for getting me started :)

Hi Geezers and Geezeresses!! How we all doing?

I'm just about recovered from Kendal calling (note the spelling @Milky Joe ). I had an amazing time, much better than last year. I'm now terrified about Tday!

Sat in Filey in a tent with good mates so I'll try to check in signal permitting.

:D much better Curlygirl! Glad you had a great festival and the weather was a lot better this year. How was the ground after the rain on Thursday? I missed being there especially with my mate giving me message updates over the weekend and making me jealous.

Morning all!  Sunny day in Sussex and weekend tomorrow, so wins all round!  If it stays like this I'm sure to be cracking out something cold and refreshing when I get home :)
