afternoon all, line up dropped and it looks like there are no must see acts this year for me

theres a couple id like to see who I haven't yet and a fair few I know I like who I have seen so still something to go at but I was just a little underwhelmed yesterday when I saw it

Im must just be well out of touch with music trends this year

It's OK. Because of this forum I listened to Major Lazer yesterday - wish I hadn't!

Of course! 'Puritanical Punishment Beating' went down particularly well!

How many festivals is Gumby JR on now? I'll see him down the front for Foo Fighters :)

That's pretty cool!!

A couple of years back we got the coach and had a good old chat with some seasoned veterans of the festival, they had there 2 and 4 year old with them. Some effort going on the coach but on the coach back the 4 year old told me how awesome of a time he had and was talking about all the things he had seen. I think festivals and unusual holidays (outside a resort) does a lot for a child!

Yeah, we went on the coach in 2015, but as the in-laws live very nearby, we were able to get the coach on the Wednesday, and he was dropped off the next day. Still a bit of a faff, though! Not sure we'll be too far forward for Foos, but if you see a 4 foot tall panda bouncing about, it'll probably be him! Hopefully we'll see you at the meet before that, anyway? :)

I'm fully intending on being at the meet this year. Ive said that for as long as I've been on this forum. But I do mean it this time. I owe you for us going to the festival :)

You don't owe anything, happy to help :)

Speaking of the meet, though, I guess we can start considering place and time, now the full lineup is out. Anyone got any thoughts? I'm planning to meet the folks who got our tickets around lunchtime, then hopefully catch a special guest appearance at the gateway riser in T&C around 3. My sister in law is also arriving sometime on Thursday, but I'm not sure when. It's also possible I might need to go to a crew training session in the evening (might have to calm the booze if so!)

How's the meet been done previously?  To see an act, or just a nice location for drinking stuff in the sunshine?

I'm going to chuck my hat into the ring and suggest Avalon.  There'll be something on in the Avalon Cafe, and it's generally a good spot to chill.

good bins for a meet up by Avalon Cafe, so i've heard.

last year we met by the Glade and later again up by Sawdusty's place/Croissant Neuf.  2015 was at Ridge and Furrow.

basically it's up to us and what we want, though not all music tastes are equal so meeting for a band could be divisive.  it's been thursday afternoon in the past when nothing major music-wise has been on.

everybody gets drunk, obvs.

Evening all. I'm happy with t&c at 3 to see nybb! But I'll generally just go with the flow. Quite a few people couldn't find us last year so I'd say a certain stage or bar? I liked 2015 ;)

3 is a bit earlier than we've usually met up, isn't it? Might be a bit difficult to actually talk to each other, too! Maybe I could meet you (and anyone else who fancies it) for a bit of an unofficial pre-meet party, and when that finishes, head somewhere a bit more suited to sitting and chatting, like the Ridge and Furrow, perhaps? Seemed popular a couple of years back.

Page two bumpity bump!

it's lovely and sunny here today :) Ooh SL you're right! Tomorrow is Glastonbury month! it's also exactly one month until I am 40! EEK!

Youngster!  40's fine, it's the subsequent decades which get scary.  I read recently that you can effectively double your lifetime (ie how much you actually live rather than existing) by trying new experiences and paying proper attention.  Which is why Glastonbury feels like much more than 5 days, and those days are vastly more memorable than the weeks either side.

Thanks @mr gumby for posting the map link on FB. Getting properly excited now.  I couldn't print it but we used screen mirroring to send it from the phone to the tv screen (both Samsung), using the phone's touch screen to zoom in on the details.  Such a cool thing to be able to do.  We first used it to look at the photos I took of the crowd from the stage when I was in the choir at Latitude,  and spotted OH and the boys waving at me as I was taking one pic.

I don't think I have got your number, CG. I'll send you mine and we can arrange something. Anyone else up for a bit of brassy action? :sungum:

I'll also be at Dropkick Murphys. Lucy, if you've seen the Film "The Departed" you've heard their Shipping Up to Boston song.
