Nice Yog.  I caught the tail end of La Roux's JP set last last year, thoroughly enjoyed.

So happy Friday one and all!  Sun shining here, hopefully bodes well for a good weekend.  Louis CK tonight, meeting up with a group of old school friends for walk along the Thames & beer tomorrow, and friends round for a BBQ on Sunday.  Happy days all round!

Plus it means we're one week closer to T-Day..... :yahoo:

It's really sunny and warm! I, as usual on days like this, am wearing all black! the sun brings out my inner goth!!

Off for a family birthday tonight, lots of sitting int he garden drinking to be done. Then if I'm home not too drunk, Mr Ginger and I will be off to look at meteors :)

Hello Curlygirl. I take it that you use Trip Advisor when planning somewhere to eat in far off climes? If you don't do so then I'd advise giving it a whirl. Watch out for the fake reports though. I love looking at places to go before I travel abroad.

Hey Yog, yes I do, so much info to be found on trip advisor!! Will look when I have time.

Can't believe you're getting your mum to do your exercise for you CG. Proper lazy is that ;)

That was a good typo haha! Only ran two miles but I did do it without stopping, and it included hilly bits, and I did it in 19 minutes. Not bad I think seeing as though the only exercise I've done in the last two years is walking around festivals and dancing.    It took me 3 hours to cool down after and my face was a funny shade of purple!!

We did that last night while sat around the campfire slightly gazeboed. Saw loads, thanks to almost no light pollution and nice clear skies.

Painting painting painting! Finished for now. I managed to get quite a lot of it on myself!

no Finbarr intended!

I hate painting with a passion. It's kind of OK when you are painting a new build property or one that is empty, but having to watch out for carpets, furniture, house contents etc is a drag. Nothing stops the monotony of it all. It just goes on and on. So, you have my every sympathy.

Hello lovely peeps.  Back from almost sunny Cornwall having avoided drowning in some sizeable surf.  Weirdly managed to graze my knees through my wetsuit, which I didn't think possible.  Thanks to a slightly inadequate rash vest I also got a nasty friction burn around my neck which looks like I attempted  to hang myself.  Not a good look for when I resumed work with my counselling clients!  Went to Cropredy last night to catch some of the festival fringe ie a band playing at the pub.  It was a nice vibe though, and we got talking festivals to people who were fair bit older than us, which made a change. I didn't realise it's just the one stage.  Saturday ticket costs £80, which compares very poorly with similar price for Latitude.

Nice to see you back @Yoghurt on a Stick@Curlygirl so envious of you going to Barbados and you @mr gumby having a clear sky to watch the Perseids.  They usually peak on my birthday (which was yesterday) so it's a nice way to round off the day. Hope you weren't too drunk to spot any meteors @lucyginger, and you enjoyed your walk along the Thames @Quark (do you go by the initials JC these days?).  Sorry can't remember who else - hope everyone's having a lovely weekend.

Hello dizzymoo. Yeah, it's nice to be back, so to speak. I went off radar there for a bit - a combination of a few things really. Anyway, happy to hear that you found some good surf despite the resulting  ligature marks around the neck. I've never tried surfing but was a bit of a skateboarder when it first came over to this country. Used to love all the stuff you could get up to on a skateboard. I suspect it's the same for surfing.

Hope you're ok now Yog.  I have no sense of balance at all so I go bodyboarding rather than surfing.  Still scary enough with 9ft waves bearing down on you.  I'm very far from an adrenaline junkie,  but there's nothing like that feeling when you know you've caught the wave and all you can do is hang on for dear life and enjoy the ride!

Probably being a bit dense but have you been to Shambala or hasn't it happened yet?

I'm OK thanks dizzymoo. Shambala takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, so not long to go now. It's been a while since I've been able to get away from it all at a festival. One of my older brothers is coming along too - it'll be his first festival. I just know he will like it.

That's lovely Yog, to be able to help someone else fall in love with an experience which means a lot to you.  I had the same feeling when I went to Latitude with my bestie, just for one day, in case we ended up not speaking to each other.  She was absolutely blown away.  Only trouble is that she was so enthusiastic in describing it to her other half that he wants to go next year,  so we'll have to find an alternative fest for our Thelma and Louise trip (with a happier ending, obvs)

Have you been to Shambala? That would make an excellent venue for a Thelma and Louise moment.

Finally put some Glastonbury pictures up on FB, thought I would share on of my favourites with you. So here (hopefully) is me in the coat I made, along with my fake beard before going to ZZ Top!

image.jpeg

I like the coat - very funky. As an aside, I went to a friend's 50th birthday party about 3 weeks ago. While there I saw a person who I hadn't seen in about 20 years. He was sporting a real ZZ Top beard whereas he used to be cleanly shaven. I pointed this out to him and he informed me that he had been influenced to go for the beard while actually working as a rodie for ZZ Top. He also informed me that they were boring people in terms of crazy rock star over indulgences.

Ha! I walked through thepyramid field while they were playing on my way to something else, can't remember what, and I was surprised and impressed by the number of people that had brought fake ZZ Top beards.

The forum seems a bit dead recently? I guess it's inevitable after Glastonbury is a distant memory. In other news I'm going to see Battles tomorrow in a pub around the corner from my house!

I know what you are saying. You can almost see the tumbleweed blowing about the place. I can't recall it being so quiet since I joined in 2011, but acknowledge that it may have been at this same time of the year.

PS. I'm thinking of telling you all about my nasty rash just to see if it would kick start some conversation.

PPS. I can't do it. I can't lie and tell you that I have a nasty rash when I don't really have one. I do have a pain in my left big toe though, if anybody can make use of that?

If you have a rash, try applying yoghurt on a stick.
