Have you been to Shambala? That would make an excellent venue for a Thelma and Louise moment.

I've been a little uncertain about Shambala as it has so few acts I know, but you seem so enthusiastic about it I'm wondering if I should try.  It's quite close to where I live too.  What do you like about it Yog?

Btw how's your big toe?

If you have a rash, try applying yoghurt on a stick.

I was once asked (many years ago) by a bloke if he could live in my house for a bit following his having just left his wife for another woman. I indicated that he could although I felt for his wife who I also knew. Anyway, as soon as he moved in he declared to me and one of my brothers (who was also living with me at the time) that we should not touch the natural yoghurt in the fridge. When asked why not he explained that his wife had given him a dose of something way back and that as a result he had to smear his knob in yoghurt every now and again. Needless to say that his yoghurt was never touched.

PS - If you want to know the whole truth the bloke's wife later, quite literally, tugged my arm begging me to give her one. Now at that time I had the morals of a tom cat, but didn't really want to have to stick my pecker in to yoghurt every now and again for a long period of time, and so refused.

I really like the vibe at Shambala. It's also a perfectly formed festival attended by like minded souls. It has a touch of the fairytale about it and is just the right size area wise for a festival, in my opinion. I've never seen any moodiness and thefts from tents are very low. It is also a festival which has achieved big success in making itself as carbon neutral as it can be. The toilets are nice, the setting is nice, you can bring your own alcohol anywhere. I wouldn't normally stick my head over the parapet and make a festival recommendation but if you want a chilled escapist moment then Shambala does indeed fit the bill. Unfortunately the tickets are sold out now - unless you look up people selling on other sites than the festivals own site (and even that has a forum where people buy and sell tickets normally for cost price). Just thought of another reason in that you said it's quite close to you.

The big toe still hurts, but only when I press it against my footwear. The thing is I keep pressing it against my footwear. What's all that about i wonder to myself.

As Bob Newhart would say, just stop it!

Thanks for the info about Shambala,  will look into it for next year.

I frequently think of it when I have particularly 'challenging' clients!

It must take all your will power not to do so.

One of my mates is a GP. One day an 80 year old man came in to his surgery and talked about his previous wives and why he wanted Viagra to help him with his newest relationship. After finishing his speech my friend exclaimed ' What did you do to your first wives? Did you shag them to death?'  Needless to say that once he had said that he immediately went in to apologetic mode. He was lucky as he got away with it.

I gave one client whose view of herself differed from mine a list of attributes and asked her to tick the ones she considered applied to her.  The words 'You missed out doormat'  were out of my mouth before I could stop them.  This was a long time ago - I've practised thoughtful silences a lot since then!  My tutor made the worst gaffe though - working with a couple she accidentally called the wife by the name of the husband's mistress.

I like the coat - very funky. As an aside, I went to a friend's 50th birthday party about 3 weeks ago. While there I saw a person who I hadn't seen in about 20 years. He was sporting a real ZZ Top beard whereas he used to be cleanly shaven. I pointed this out to him and he informed me that he had been influenced to go for the beard while actually working as a rodie for ZZ Top. He also informed me that they were boring people in terms of crazy rock star over indulgences.

Thanks Yog!

I'm surprised ZZ Top don't use their beards to hide their stash.

Morning all, btw! Had a very productive weekend and am now quite tired. I may either be very efficient today, or I'll fall asleep at the desk! Still, it's lovely and sunny so that's nice :)

Morning my lovelies.  Put and about over the weekend so didn't make it on here much, just catching up with the news!  I seem to recall it was pretty quiet in this dead zone between GF and T-Day last year; just building up to it now!

With a combination of fluffy coats (love it btw Lucy!), fake beards, sore toes, alternative uses for yoghurt and gigs in pubs it sounds like everyone's doing OK :)

Thanks Quark!! It was a bit of a pain to make but I am so pleased with it! I may have to wear it again soon!!

This Limbo part of the year is horrible, isn't it? I feel all lost!

Loved the coat too Lucy. You should be seen in it more often. Probably best to dispense with the beard though.

How did the walking on water (along the Thames) go @Quark

We ended up bowling and going for pizza both days of the weekend. We normally do it on one day with 2 families who come to the UK for a few weeks each summer, but this year they weren't available on the same day. Terrible sacrifice for the offspring; they'd live on pizza if they could.

I'm in a more weird limbo than usual as eldest will be leaving for uni next month (sob). Have probably failed in the parenting dept as I can't imagine how he's going to survive. He barely managed for the 5 days we left him while we were at Glastonbury.

We didn't end up walking that far in the end Dizzy - the distance between 3 pubs and that was about it!  Stayed around Woolwich Market in the sunshine, so hardly going to complain :).  Somehow came home well on the way, but pretty sure I'd only had 5 or 6 pints!

Sure your eldest will be fine.  I had no idea what I was up to when I left, and look how I turned out!  Oh hang on... :D

Today is proving to be the worst Monday I've had in a long time.  I managed to get a ball of pocket fluff stuck in the headphone socket of my phone, so I have no music!!!! Spent 3 hours on and off trying to work it out with a paperclip...

Evening all,

Apologies I've been MIA for a few days , bit of a digital detox, plus the sun was swing and I was at a party or two.

its that strange kind of Glastonbury time, total limbo, but building up to panic .... Every time I think about October my heart starts pounding , not good for the blood pressure that's for sure.

ive got V festival coming up this weekend, just me and a girlfriend, and a pop tastic weekend .... ( yes I am waiting for a slating ) . Meeting some good friends there that I've not seen for years so should be nice. The wet stuff is forecast so I am prepared to totally take one for the NFR team,,, v dodgy line up and precipitation should be a good sacrifice !  I remember when V was good ( yes I am that old ) and in a park I used to play in as a kid, now it's a reason to go back home and see mum once a year and fit in some music .... Will just be avoiding bieber and Rihanna at all cost .... Looking forward to seeing Eliza and the Bear and faithless .... And drinking cocktails :-)

FF xx

FF I loves a bit of pop I do!! I even *cough... Like A bieber song

anyway ...

nowt really to tell, worked for 13 hours yesterday and after having very little sleep for a week (which I put down to being on the wagon), I crashed and burned at 9pm last night.

Went for my 3rd run today and it was much harder than the first. I feel so old! I even have sore hips. Going for a bike ride with my neighbour tomorrow on the cliffs and the weather is s'posed to be fabulous.

Sounds like fun times FF - sun, parties and a fest equals happy days! Hope you have a good one this weekend, there's a few good bands between Bieber and Rihanna! And always cocktails :)

I remember V being good too. Only went for a day back in 97 (my first proper non-local fest) but had a look at the line up the other day to remind myself who I saw.

A young Stereophonics, Feeder, Echobelly, Foo Fighters, Apollo 440, Beck, Placebo and Prodigy on their FOTL tour. Spoiled really!!

What I had forgotten was that I chose Prodigy over Daft Punk. Still think it was the right choice, but one does have to wonder!

I haven't yet. I'll have a look at it. Have you been to V before? Is Friday the earliest you can go? Lot of money for only 2 real days. Just been looking at it for next year

Please don't go to V , I would only recommend it to youngsters who would like to go to a gig in a park. There is absolutely nothing but music ( and one comedy tent and a small funfair ) , no after hours entertainment at all , really imagine going to Wembley witha few stages and you've got it .  I think this year there will be more of a queue at the slush puppy stall than the bar, and the line up is defo appealing to the young girls .... First time in years that it's sold out ( the saturday in Essex has sold out due to bieber )

I first went in 1995 (the first one ) as it was literally in the park where I lived and couldn't believe that big bands actually played outside of London and Manchester. During the early years in was great ... Pulp, blur, radiohead, chillis ... Then I went off around Europe working and V was a great way to come back home once a year and meet friends, then it evolved to going with friends who would never do any other festivals and about 15 of us going together ..  This is my 21st and last year of going - we bought early bird tickets which were 135 which is so different to the prices now

lookimg forward to a girls weekend with music thrown in .... To be fair had some cracking weekends there over the years even when it's been slated , all due to the bands we've picked to see, the attitude we've attacked it with and friends around us ... Got invited a few years ago to watch the sub headliners the Stereophonics from backstage , now that was an experience , but I know this year will be the last one for me .... I'll wave goodbye this year to V with 21 years of great memories .... Just looking for a replacement for next year ( or maybe 2 replacements if we don't get Glasto tickets )

Thankyou so much for the review. I will steer clear. My mate always says if we don't get tickets for Glastonbury we should go there as she's into all that music. I will be sure to give a resounding 'no'.

Morning Mr G. Any plans with G junior today in this sunshine?
