As I say, this is well sourced. In theory, it should be accurate as there's no reason why this person should have said it if not true, and to be wrong would reflect badly on them - tho I've been sat here long enough to know these things are sometimes wrong anyway, for some reason or other.

The more I think about it the more I warm to the idea it might be right than when I was told about it first thing this morning, tho without any corroboration I'm crediting it with not much at the mo.

I am very interested as you said yourself you normally shoot this down straight away, there must at least be a chance if you think its well sourced. Lets wait and see.

Would be weird thinking of the potentials next year: Daft Punk, Radiohead, Ed Sheeran, GnR - pretty diverse!

Reckon you've got a point there.  If I'm seeing Daft Punk I want them sat at least 30 feet above the rest of us like the gods of electronica that they are.  If I have my way they'll be riding the Arcadia spider down to the Pyramid like a f*cking pony, burning chair people with the flame cannon as they go.

Given that - Get Lucky aside - RAM was a bit of a turkey I can't see them wanting to expend considerable effort and cash to recreate it 4 years after the fact.

I was already excited about the prospect of Radiohead. Throwing the possibility of Daft Punk into the mix has got me nervous for T-Day.

I've never really gotten the Daft Punk thing either (the odd tune aside). I can't help thinking that if they didn't wear helmets and played live more regularly, about 75% less people would give a sh1t.

The helmets thing is a bit gimmicky, but to their credit they've bloody run with it!  Don't know how much difference the mystique makes.

You're right that the fact they don't do it that often increases the hype and the excitement when they do, but surely that applies to all things that are both good and scarce?  If the music was crap then no-one would give a damn if they didn't play live much!

What sort of size crowd would people expect if they did play. I imagine huge but my biased opinion may be clouding my judgment.

It's difficult to say much without giving too much away, but in theory this geezer wouldn't be saying what he is unless he's right or unless he wants to feel foolish/embarrassed (not to me) about his wrongness at a later date - tho i know from experience that people like that do sometimes get embarrassed by being wrong,

I'm not putting much belief in it right now, but i'm not ruling it out either.

I suppose it also helps that they have a more commercial 'house' sound. I personally think that Orbital and Underworld have made more original and interesting music, but they haven't obviously crossed over in the same way.

er, no it doesn't, as they played plenty of gigs in 2006 and haven't played any in 2016, and almost certainly won't either.

e: and ignoring them playing gigs between 1997 and 2006 too.

i think my stance with this Daft Punk rumour is, they won't do Glastonbury and not Coachella - so We'l just see how those rumours pan out

Daft Punk being booked and turning up and playing as part of some sort of band would be absolutely awful in my opinion.
