Well, Kanye obviously has Daft Punk as an influence as well.  He opened is set with:

Haha, true! Tho that never became a song I really got into, and listening to the Daft Punk version without Kanye doesn't do anything for me. Like eating just the sauce of a meal rather than with the whole meal.

I still get confused when people on here say Random Access Memories got mixed reception.

I'm assuming you mean from fans as it has universal acclaim from critics.

yeah it's pretty divided in that respect. i don't dislike it as much as others seem to, and it was better than the album that came before it, but i guess it just wasn't what people wanted from a Daft Punk comeback. say what you want though but Get Lucky was a big tune, and there were a few others on there that i really liked (the final two songs, Doin' It Right and Contact especially were great). i do think the especially positive critical reception was just reviewers being a bit over hyped by a new Daft Punk album though as is often the case when huge acts return (Bowie's comeback album spring to mind, as great as it was, some reviewers (and probably me) got a bit over excited)

I liked it and appreciated the different approach. I also like Human After All but i understand why it's considered the weak link.

It's going to be very interesting to see what they offer up next.

Human After All wasn't earth shattering but i enjoy it, and i think they made a point about it coming alive in a live environment. pretty repetitive but not as terrible as it's made out to be. just wasn't Homework and/or Discovery pt. 2.

do wonder if there's a new album on the way along with this supposed tour. not that they need it, but you'd imagine they might want some new material to play rather than a four year old album

Be Here Now is another example.

Be Here Now got the reviews that Morning Glory should have got - MG was panned on release and turned in to one of the best selling albums of all time.

Anyway  - I listened to Daft Punk on a run today and the breakdown (and eventual return to the beat) on One More Time is one of the greatest moments in music history.

I dunno, man - the lacklustre reviews for WTSMG seem fair enough.  Even calling it a mixed bag is charitable.

Oh, I agree with you. Morning Glory has probably 2/3 songs on it that I could stomach now. Think it was a case of the music journos nailing their colours to the Blur mast and when their album sold badly in comparison to the Oasis behemoth, their noses were put out of joint. Hence why they decided to go overboard on BHN. That, and the fact that everyone was probably doing a lot of cocaine.

Agreed. The song Morning Glory I still enjoy. Maybe She's Electric too. I once loved Don't Look Back In Anger. Definitely Maybe, in comparison, still sounds great.

I was thinking about WTSMG a few months back, genuinely think it could be improved considerably with just a few changes to the track listing. If I was in change I'd re-release it as;

1) Hello

2) Acquiesce

3) Roll With It

4) Wonderwall

5) Don't Look Back In Anger

6) Hey Now

7) Some Might Say

8 ) Cast No Shadow

9) Headshrinker

10) Morning Glory

11) The Masterplan

Get rid of the interludes (Swamp Song is already a b-side), and bump She's Electric/Champagne Supernova to b-sides

Roll With It stays, but Champagne Supernova goes?

Hmm. ..everyone talks about song length and the generally excessive production and arrangements, but they rarely mention how lousy the songs are #MagicPie

D'You Know What I Mean? is one of my favourite Oasis tunes, and i did My Big Mouth and It's Getting Better (Man!!). lot of shit on there as well (All Around The World) but the hilarious production always carries me through
