Trackers - any use at Glasto?

The type of tracker you're talking about works on Bluetooth. That limits the range to about 10m with good line of sight. They work on en masse so you need a 'network' of people with them for them to be of use.  The type of tracker you need is one with a SIM card in it to send the location out when requested. These are much dearer but work like they should. As someone said you can track a phone with the right software and that'll be as good as a SIM tracker.

Choosing Major Lazer over radiohead is a mistake that will haunt him for the rest of his life, like when I opted for Chic over Portishead. Tell him you can either watch Radiohead together or Major Lazer together, and that the latter will involve you dancing vigorously, he will soon come round.

nope, you made the correct choice.

Back on the trackers, the sim methods including findmyiphone will help you locate someone to within about 50 metres. That's a lot of people in a crowd. Fancy flag or headgear will help pinpoint the exact location of someone. Either that or meet away from the crowds.

As others have said, pick a time and place, somewhere with food/drink to sit and relax while you wait.  Going back two hours later is an awesome idea, I'll remember that.

It is a personal choice but I like to use modern technology / my phone as little as possible during a festival.  It helps with switching off from the real world.

One situation where it really worked well was to meet a female in the early 80's who had never been to Glastonbury before - she could not arrive until the Friday  evening and even that was not straight forward as she was getting a lift in a car by her employer so arrival time was not certain .

+ as she was staying in my tent if we did not meet up she would be stuffed.

At that time the medical unit was in the Farmhouse { so it was not blocked off - have no clue if it is now as its years since I have been up there } and everyone knew where it was so I knew she would have no problem finding it - in that situation I told her I would show up every 90 minuets until we met up.

Cant recall the times now but lets say 18.30 and I was sure she would not be there  as I thought it would be more likely be 20.00 or 21.30 but was amazed to find her sitting on a wall with her little rucksack. She had arrived with ten minuets to spare.

Sounds a crazy idea now but it worked - we walked to the phone so she could call her Employer's wife { she was a au pair and they were certainly worried in case she got lost } just to let them know she was safe and she had found me.

The family were old friends of mine so they knew I would show up but they had never been to Glastonbury so they were concerned she would not find me.

anyway she had a great time and really enjoyed it.

of course these days its not such a problem but back then it was all we could do to meet up.

Another time - but completely different circumstances say ten years ago or so a friend asked me for a lift back to London early Monday morning - now we had arranged to meet in the crew bar say at 1am - walked in but could not spot her so sent a textto say which table I was at .

Unknowing to me she had also sent a text to say she was at the back { god knows why we had  previous arranged to meet at the front }

But was not worried as she was working so I knew at some stage she would show up.

anyway I did spot her and we picked up her gear - as we drove out of Pilton  # both mobiles rang #

I looked at mine and texts she had sent Hours before just reached my phone and on her phone my texts just arrived

so even with a mobile it still did not help us due to the delay in the text system
