Supermarkets near site

Hi all, seasoned festival-goer but first time glastonbury here! Just a quick Q...

Since I'm travelling by train and I don't really fancy carting a weekend's worth of drink and snacks around to the site, or pay the presumably nasty drink prices in site, are there any transport links to nearby shops/supermarkets? i.e any buses running, taxis that wouldn't cost the earth, shops in walking distance?

Thanks and enjoy your weekend if you're going!!

A bus runs to Shepton mallett from gate A, and drops off near a big Tesco - it's not a long journey, maybe 3-4 miles or so. That's the easiest and quickest option, I'd do it early doors Thursday and then sort yourself out for the weekend

Yep that's what I was hoping to do anyway! Arriving on Wednesday but would be happy enough using the bars the first night seeing as I'll be getting there fairly late in the afternoon. Any idea of the prices?

Cheers

Probably between £4.50 and £5.00 for a pint, lager (tuborg im afraid) towards the upper part of that bracket and ales (passable Otter stuff) a little cheaper in most bars.

There's a few other bars smaller bars with different stuff, Beat hotel has San Miguel and the Theatre + Circus has Grimbergen, while the acoustic field has an ale bar typically with about 15 beers on tap - all fairly decent but nothing too thrilling. It's very much one of my specialist subjects

Nowt wrong with Otter Ale, probably the best beer in the world (f*ck carlsberg) certainly better than that Cornish muck they sell

Best beer in the world!  if you really do think that, then I'm genuinely really very jealous, cos you'll be very happy at the festival this year!

Id absolutely love to sit you down in any decent craft pub and make you try a good few beers though :P so many beautiful things out there that don't taste like twigs!

If it's not cold, fizzy and sterile, I'll try it. I live in Exeter, Otter Ale is one of our local brews so it's always good to find a pint. I do drink other beers as well mind, and I've been going to the cider bus since 1982 and I've yet to find one that tastes like twigs. :P See you there.

If I bump into you, I guarantee I'll have a little bag full of better beer than that  well, assuming it's daytime, beyond that I'll have made the step over to rum . . .

Dont get me wrong, mind, Otter will be getting drunk by me. I'll give it a good robust tasting!
