2019 festival

So there’s been some changes at Reading this year if you’re interested. Mostly minor technical stuff but here we go.

day ticket holders are back at 20,000 per day so despite this years increase in capacity the campsites should feel more spacious

entry review tents are back in place if you get caught with your stash your entrance will be reviewed

both red and orange silent arenas are open on Thursday evening.

see you tomorrow :)

edit: oh yeah and there’s chicken nuggets

Nothing in terms of secret sets then?

Sherlocks secret set is legitimately meme worthy.

Who on earth thought they'd pull a decent crowd for one?

They better be on BBC intro stage like Peace last year of I feel it may be embarrassing.

Might still be on BBC intro, we don’t have any info on where/when yet.

Dont think the crowd will be too bad, previous sets they’ve had at Reading had a decent enough attendance

The Sherlocks are easily big enough to be playing a half hour set at 5pm on the FR. Anyone who claims that as a “disappointment” is deluding themselves.

I'm guessing those that are claiming it is a disappointment were expecting Kasabian or Biffy on the FR ?

On the app it says that there’s just a gap where SWMRS were. Surely too late to get a secret set in so do we reckon there’s just gonna be a massive gap between Basement and Crystal fighters?

Just think they haven't adjusted the timings properly yet. I doubt they'll be able to fill the gap now, unless they get a band already playing elsewhere that day to do double duty

do you happen to know if we’ll be able to exchange wristbands at the green entrance Friday AM? We got caught out a couple of years ago when they weren’t doing them at green and had to slog all the way back around to red

No they're a disappointment for that exact reason. A secret set is usually an act who's too big to fit on the stage they're playing if they had been announced. (Frank Carter in the pit, BMTH on the R1, Peace on the introducing). The Sherlocks could easily play 5PM on the FR as an announced act. As the secret set it's very disappointing.

“Green wristband exchange is open to weekend ticket holders on Wednesday and Thursday. And then for day ticket holders only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”

so yeah go to red (or white)

Sorry, out of up votes but thanks a lot for this, has saved us a lot of potential hassle

What a ridiculous comment. Of course Sherlocks wouldn’t play at 5pm on the FR as a normal act. The last time they played Reading (2 years ago) they were at 5pm on the Radio 1 stage and they’ve only got bigger.

Fair point. Also played 5.45pm on the FR stage the year before, almost a year before they had an album out

Agreed. The Sherlock’s have done nothing to warrant this as they’ve been fairly inactive since 2017 and not taken to much bigger stages. Wolf Alice played the festival republic secret set in 2017 and they were also on the brink of releasing their second album but they had recieved much more acclaim and were way bigger then than the Sherlocks are now and ever will be.
