Compared to their European rivals Holland are at a significant disadvantage in terms of population. When you look at European world cup winner (Germany, Italy, England, Spain and France) all have populations of 45 million plus. In comparison Holland is 17 million. On that basis the odd lull in talent probably isn't unexpected.

Every trusted reporter, from both Spain and England, have said that all summer we have said we aren't selling Phil and never changed our stance on that. A lot of the "offer accepted" stories were put out there by Barcelona. They do it quite regularly, they did the same with Fabregas.

It's nice to see them losing out for a change.

 

Also saw that PSG are being investigated over the FFP rules. Will be amazed if anything comes of it.

I can't believe no one signed Costa. He's guaranteed goals and would have been available for much cheaper than any striker of a similar ability. The only thing I can think is he is set to join Athletico after their transfer ban ends.

Not sure about that. Both TAA and Gomez have been doing well filling in.

I read the other day that Clyne isn't in Liverpool's CL squad either, which I thought was surprising - tho presumably it's because of that injury.

Talking of CL squads, Coutinho did make the list - so presumably Liverpool reckon he's going to slot back in.
