Download full sets from iplayer

When I installed Get_iplayer it created a desktop icon "Get_Iplayer" that opens a command prompt when double-clicked

at that point I type "get_iplayer --url and paste the url of the set I want from the list I posted earlier - or if you want something you right-click the images and "copy link address" then paste it into the command line, press enter and wait.

I can't work out where in the command to put the --overwrite and I've tried every option. I've been putting in get_iplayer --tv-quality fhd --pid= but no matter where I put the overwrite command it doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas?

So you do get_iplayer program url --overwrite that should work if the file is in the folder already you might have to change overwrite to force

Thank you! I had to use force. I'll no doubt be back next year to ask exactly the same question.

all having an issue where everything downloads but at the end it just says converting to MPEG-TS. And never seems to stop this conversion

It's the last 5 days or so, so the content on iPlayer, it will start expiring this Friday 😢

Paste it in to JDownloader 2 LinkGrabber

Also has anyone got a decent amount of 2011 - 2016 as they were on my Tivo box and it's had to be replaced...

I've got 2017 on wards on my NAS if needed.

I dont have much pre 2014 but Ive got a few sets 2014->2017, I think I stared hoovering up everything around 2019

Happy to ping you a list of what I have - I am eager to flesh out my missing sets from 2014 onwards (when I started going), but happy to expand my collection of any year tbh 🙂

This is the way 🙂 - I don't think the pid for Glasto coverage has changed for a few years now, so using this command (with the pidrecursive argument) tells it to hoover up anything that the iplayer has on it's system linked to Glastonbury - so I just rinse and repeat the same command - but I do append --output X:\Glasto\2024 - to send the downloads to my NAS drive

This year - I think Ive pulled down about 260 individual files (video and radio)

More importantly though - re-run the command every few days - there's been a couple more sets released just yesterday that I grabbed (couldn't tell you what they were as I'm at work just now)

grab the individual PID for the program that hasnt downloaded properly (its shown in the get_iplayer output, or you might still have the files to hand that were partially downloaded.....

then its simply
get_iplayer --pid=b007r6vx --force

Obvs change the pid for the one you actually want though 🙂

Also, a handful of things were broadcast in 4k as they are available elsewhere. The whole thing isnt in 4k now is it? And theres no way that get iplayer will ever try to nab a 4k feed if even available?

and dont forget the quality setting cause sometimes itll just grab 720 and not 1080

Yep - Ive got the high quality content set as default - but not dug into the 4k thing - I wonder if 4k TV's with iplayer built in will stream 4k content if available?

If they do - there must be a way to grab em - might have a look later 🙂

@Suprefan - I read that the youtube-dl tool might be able to do it - but its tricky (something about embedded certificates in TV's and set top boxes that support 4k which allow them in - but that shouldnt be too tricky to fudge 😉

On the subreddit somebody grabbed coldplay, burna boy and dua in 4k. Dont know how they did but theres tons of ways to capture things. That is a good question as to if the iplayer tv app goes to 4k or not. On tv apps for my tele it will show the 4k hdr logo if something is switched to that. ( apple tv, max, hulu ) if not then its just 1080.

and bbc didnt even push the whole 4k broadcast thing like they did in 22. Theres no way its not being filmed in that higher quality anyway.

edit: hmmm saw your response. Look into it and let us know. Might as well give it a try and see whats what. I mean my von worked on the feed this year and i just ticked the box that i had a tv license and i dont. I just have a bbc iplayer account and they dont give a toss?
