Isle of Wight 2018 Festival

Depeche Mode are one of those bands, for me, that have passed me by. I know they are very popular, but I know little-to-nothing about them. Can't say, personally, that I'd be ecstatic if they were headlining.  Happy to delve into their discography though (if anyone can recommend anything?)

Top Live Band with a great back catalogue. The four Albums that changed there future/direction were Black Celebration , Music for the Masses , Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion.

If this is correct, I'd be moderately happy.  Although it does sound a lineup from any other year, I thought they might splash out for something HUGE for the 50th..but hey ho..  Better than David Guetta and Rod Stewart, right?

Oh, I know. They're two separate entities as far as I'm concerned. But that is their angle for this year and how they're advertising it, you'd have thought they'd push the boat out to back it up

It was effective enough I guess. People were thinking it could be more than the same old and the early bird tickets went quickly.

I did think it’d be the case next year however that they’d catch some international touring acts because of the move to late June closer to big European festivals. The only foreign act mentioned that they’ve managed is The Script.

I don't think it really works for a promoter to do that. They'd be saying next year's acts will be less special.

Will they announce all the headline acts for the weekend or do they drip feed for a couple of weeks?

Personally, DM would be good. Pink Floyd would be quite exceptional.  A good mix is always nice.

Think the early birds went quick quickly because there were less on sale than usual (never known them sell out before) & they were cheaper than usual, probably because of the mess they made of the line up last year. As Phil Collins is one of Solos artists I would expect him, DM & one other as headliners.

I think I'll avoid forums if Collins is announced...(He's a guilty pleasure of mine, but I guarantee it would be met with 95% negativity)
