New site this year, after last year it was on the old Alchemy site.

Basically the same crew that run it, minus a couple of people!

Not planning on going this year, line up looks good though!

Hello Paul,

I haven't even looked at the line up! An opportunity came along to go to my only festival this year, so I just snatched at it. Thanks for the information.

I`m going, should be a little crowd of us, cant not go really...... Gong with Steve Hillage just cant be missed :):)  :)

Gong with Steve Hillage!! That really can't be missed. My mate played Gong to me a few times decades ago when we first started smoking dope. Haven't heard them since, so it'll be nice to do so again, for old times sake.

I'll probably wear my efests t shirts if the weather is warm during the day, so feel free to say hello if you spot me. :)

Pissed is OK in my books. Anyway, a strange turn of events has happened. Despite our assurances that we'd not spend a single night apart (something which stopped me from going to Glastonbury this year) me and my wife have decided that she'll not go (because she no longer wants to), but that I will go, because one of our friends is going and we can't leave him in the lurch.

The net result of the above is that I now have a spare ticket (in my wife's name) which is completely useless to us. I guess I could try and sell it, but that's not really the way I operate. So, if there's a lady out there who wants a free ticket, then PM me. Also, if there's a bloke out there that wants a free ticket and knows how to change the names on an existing ticket, then please also get in touch. This will, by necessity, have to be done on a first come first served basis. This offer also goes out to trannies, gender neutrals, aliens etc. It's going to be a case of first come first served. Not sure what the set up is, as I've never been before. This means that we may have to meet up just prior to going in to the festival. Will look in to this.

Oh, just had a thought - pixies, elves, nyads, fairies etc can also apply for this free ticket. In fact, I hope that you do.

can't help but wonder, and feel free to tell me that it's none of my business, but why would you decide not to spend a single night apart?

absence makes the heart grow fonder , and all that....

nice way of doing things though man - I doff my cap.

Hello there man next door,

Me and my wife don't spend very much time apart in any 24 hour period. We may, at a push, spend some time apart in different rooms in the house, but that's about all. I can only tell you my reasons why this is. I have spent several decades being monumentally fucked off and depressed with life. Then my wife came along, and took all that sadness away. I kind of know it was the same for her, but that's not for me to say. Anyway, we just talk to each other and love each others company so much that we don't really part. It works for us ie if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Hope that you are having a lovely day.

Yog :)

Wow - that's one strong bond man. Good for you mate, lots of people go through all of life without finding anything like that.

hope you enjoy the festival

Thanks man next door :)

Strange things are afoot though. My wife declared that there's just too much to do around our new (old) house, and that she wasn't going to go to the festival, but that I should go with one of our friends, who bought a ticket on the strength that we were going. I really don't want to let our friend down, but also, I don't really want to spend my limited time on this planet not being with my wife. Too be honest, I'm all over the place on this one. I have asked my mate whether he'll know anybody there, and he says that he'll know a few. And the reason why he'll know a few is that this will be about his eight festival this summer ( five of them in a row) and he has made friends along the way, who have also been at other festivals he has attended. So, part of me thinks he'll be OK, and part says that I should go, on friendship principle. Then, about five minutes ago, I read of someone that part of it looks like it might be taking place in an old quarry. For reasons that elude me right now, that sounds like something that I'd like to witness. I'm thinking that there will be a good vibe, and maybe, just maybe, I need that vibe, to counteract the stress of my house move - long story, but, for the first time in my life, I hired a removals company. A company that quoted for the job, did two thirds of it, and then said that they weren't doing the rest unless they were paid more. Wow, did they drop us in the shit. I could go on about the domino affect that had on our lives, but will spare you. The thing is my wife's as happy as gurgling baby in this house, and sorting it is her pressure relief. I think that I may need to be in a quarry, getting off my box, and seeing / listening to the sights and sounds.

It's a good little original style fest with the best vibe of any I've been to.

I've been the last two years but want to try the Liverpool Psy Fest which unfortunately clashes.

Thanks for the response flannel. It's whetted my appetite to go that little bit more.

Hope you go Yog, I'd like to meet you and get you a few beers!

Weather looks decent, been rain today but hopefully dry for the weekend!

Hello Paul,

I am going! The decision has been made. I'm picking a mate up in Birmingham at around 10am tomorrow morning, and travelling up in me and my wife's campervan to the festival. It'll be a slower journey than if we went by car, so expect it'll be about 2pm by the time we get there. Don't suppose you know whether my mate will be allowed to pitch his tent next to the campervan do you? Be handy if they did allow this. Jesus - I've just realized all the shit that I need to do before then. Must get off here, for a while, and deal with the booze inward situation.

Hopefully see you and your partner over the weekend Paul.  I'll PM you my mobile number.

Yog :)

Can peeps attending give a review of this festival when they get back? I've been eyeing this fest up for a while now and frequently watch the Guy Berresford footage from when it used to be Alchemy on YouTube. Some great shots there and it looks like a good little festival and right up my alley. I'm thinking next year I'll be at Bearded, then a medium size festival in August and then another smaller one at the end of Sept. (either Equinox or SEITD)

I'm particularly keen to find out how the new site is and whether stages are closing a bit later - I know that was a problem in the past.

Hello BlackHole2006,

I really enjoyed the festival. It has a great vibe. No moodiness or air of threat at all, which I consider to be very important. Great mix of people from all walks of life. There was also a good variety of live music and dj's. There are also a few food outlets, which sold lovely food, as opposed to trashy food. There were also a few shops on site, but it wasn't overkill on commercialism. The long drop type toilets were kept clean, but some people will insist on pissing on the toilet seats. Free toilet rolls provided throughout the festival.

I didn't see any litter at all when we left site late on Monday morning. However, they seem not to have separate bins for recycling, but just have big bins for all stuff. I suspect that they might sort the re-cycling out later, but don't know.

There were two 'rocking' marquees down in a scooped out quarry area. These are where the dj's and rappers etc performed. It'll sound strange, but I have only got in to music much later in life despite going to festivals for over 30 years. As a result, I had, and mostly still have, no knowledge of the people who played there. However, I spent many a happy hour there sitting outside the marquees listening to the music. I have given up on dancing but the marquees were full to the brim with people dancing. Oh, I've just remembered the name of one dj set that I heard - I'm pretty sure they were called Lost Element.

One thing that I noticed is that nearly everybody who was a smoker simply carried on rolling and smoking within the marquees. There was security going around but never saw them intervene with anybody once.

There was a great mood all weekend, which was probably enhanced because the weather was good to us.

Not sure what else to say, but if you have any questions please ask.

Oh, just remembered - The music was shut down at 2am on Saturday and Sunday mornings and 12pm on Sunday night. There were attempts by people to play their own systems in the campervan area, but they seemed to be closed down as soon as they got started. I think a lot of people hang around the fire area in the quarry after the music stops. Plus groups of people obviously go back to camp to chat further there in to the wee hours.

Would I go again? Yes I would.

Thanks a lot for this Yog. Answered all my questions and then some.

Sounds like a lovely little festival - don't really mind that the stages shut at 2am, I'm not that much of a late night partier at Glasto but as long as I have a couple of hours after the main bands have finished then I'm happy. I'm thinking I'm going to to Bearded, Boomtown then this one. Me & my mates are also planning on doing an all inclusive holiday somewhere in Spain when Glastonbury is usually on (I know it sounds horrendously tacky but a week slobbing about in the sun with beers will be great).

Have you ever thought about going to Bearded Theory? It's a great festival, sounds like it a has a similar vibe to Equinox in the sense that it's very laid back and cheap. In fact they do a payment plan, meaning that you pay £40.00 now then £20.00 in monthly instalments next year.
