Green Man Festival 2018

With no Glastonbury this year I'm looking at either this or EOTR to get my camping festival fix. Both festivals seem to have a similar ethos to Glasto although obviously on a much smaller scale. Really happy with both line ups (Phoebe Bridgers, BJM, Alex Cameron + Kevin Morby are all looking beaut) however I think my friends are swaying more towards this. Got a few questions if anyone can help a brother out...

1. Will there be more acts announced? If so what size of acts roughly should be expected?

2. When do camping tickets tend to sell out?

3. Is it like Glastonbury where there's no cut off between the campsite and the stages? (i.e. can you carry around alcohol in a rucksack)

4. Are there acts playing all through the night? 

Hope someone can supply the goods here. Thanks.

1. More to announce - plus Friday night (?) headliner. About 100 acts in total - across 4 stages, with a couple of smaller tents.

2. I think last year they sold out about 6 weeks in advance. They usually give notice when the last few hundred are available.

3. There are cut offs - but no one checks what you are taking in. You can drink from cans quite openly - but try to avoid the bar areas.

5. Yes - after the main stage finishes there are bands and DJs playing in the Tents. Usually get to bed between 0400 - 0500. The site remains open 24 hrs and there seem to usually be a big crowd around. At EotR it seems most people leave the site by around 0230.

Yeesh. EotR is making me think the unthinkable.... I might have to sit this GM out.

Maybe wait a bit longer, the eotr announcement is about double the amount of this GM one, so it's not surprising if it's better. Obviously both are great though.

I soon came to my senses Chawk. I've now resolved to buy a ticket for EotR, go to Green Man as a steward, and sacrifice doing any APE days.

Larmer Tree have First Aid Kit, Susanne Sundfor, and Nadine Shah, those my three big wants for GM.

Nadine Shah would be great, FAK less so. I have a bad feeling they're headlining and are being held back as they're elsewhere at other smaller festivals.

I'll check out Susanne Sundfor as don't know anything about her.

Well I'm only aware of Larmer Tree fest from her telling me I should get down there for that, however I'm using the Glastonbury fallow to do a course from May - July, so most fests during that time are off limits. Had planned to do Primavera this year but had to sacrifice that also. Don't matter though because Green Man and EotR is all one needs anyway.

Hey dudes, looks like I will be joining you all for my first Green Man Festival, since Latitude seems to be in decline!

Random questions: how muddy does it get, and can you bring camping chairs into the arena? (Don't worry, I only use it in between shows)

Welcome to the Green Man converts.  Yes some places can be a bit muddy but no real problems.  The main stage arena is in a valley overlooked by a series of terraces on the hillside where there is plenty of space to plonk down a camping chair.  I now have to do all of my music sitting and you'll have no problem at Green Man.

Flavius: It rained quite a bit last year but I only really experienced fairly bad mud when getting back to the car park on Monday morning.

Decent walking boots should do.

After catching the bug at Glasto last year, I've decided to continue my late onset mid-life crisis at Green Man this year. Looking forward to meeting some/all of you there.

Next announcement coming on March 1. Already got my tickets so hoping for something after (hate to say it) not much that's blown me away on the first announcement.

King Gizz are at Øya the weekend before so probably in good stead to throw in an appearance. Jenny Lewis and WITCH too. 

Think my last guess for the final headliner would be Courtney Barnett. Seems perfectly timed.

I'd love it to be Eels but think it would probably be a female led act so Courtney Barnett makes sense. Or Feist possibly, though she is headlining EotR and they don't tend to end up with the same headliners.

Im in the EOTR Camp this year but king gizz, sunflower bean,soccer mommy,the vegan leather and Unknown mortal orchestra are all doing august things so hoping they play both and not just one or the other
