I really can't see Charli XCX being the first name they call up, especially after SZA gate last year. Sure, huge surge in popularity this year, but only for a very niche demographic. Would be a desperate last ditch move if she's booked as a headliner IMO and this is coming from a fan.
Sure, it will be a fun set, full of energy and enjoyable for those who are into it. Amongst casuals and the standard Glasto goer, I think they'd be relatively dis-interested (making a sweeping stereotype here, but don't think I'm miles off).
I feel a little sorry for Glasto here actually, under the microscope this year more than other years I feel. Just been publicly insulted by a headliner they were talking to, and now got circa 2 months to book someone else, with the expectation from ticket holders and press being an A lister. Real naff position to be in imo.
Obviously all subjective - I didn’t like it very much.
Although if they played a headline set and played 6/7 songs from it - it wouldn’t go down too well. That’s the point I’m making.
With legacy headline acts (and I’m not ever comparing muse to the Rolling Stones) …. 99% of people just want to sing along to the hits
