I actually still don't think it's beyond all reasoning that they could sub pyramid. However, the only person I can see them subbing is Elton which clashes with other speculation.

I thought that 2023/24 headliners had already been booked a while ago. So if they know they're not headlining for next year, and they've got a show ready to go then they may see it as a bucket list thing to just get the farm done. You never know what might happen in the future and they could miss their chance. They know that Elton is a bloody huge booking and he's going to draw a massive crowd and therefore they could have an absolutely awesome crowd and shit loads of promotion being the sub before him (AM & GnR wouldn't have that draw I can't see them subbing either of them) But subbing Elton would be a bloody good move in my opinion and would still be a MASSIVE slot. 

I think they're too big at the moment for a secret set and I think subbing Elton would really work.... idk

I agree, I don't think the sub slot would be shockingly beneath them. They are kinda on that cusp of very likely future headliner but not necessarily slam dunk (esp. not as this year seems like the year they should be).

Anyway, someone on here confirmed they aren't gonna be there this year though and they seemed in the know. Shame really.

They would have to be stupid to agree to subbing the pyramid

The amount of acts we seem to have suggests any slot they could possibly do are full bar a secret set.

Both Florence and the 1975 seem to be setting up to have glasto slots and yet are both too big to sub/too small to headline/not the rumoured headliners. Both doing secret sets? Back ups? Subbing?

I'm fascinated by Florence + The Machine, because - had she not headlined before - I'd wonder about her viability as a Pyramid topper going forward.

But her arena run went like hot cakes and she has a corking catalogue over several albums now to pull out too. She might be in a stronger position than she was in 2015, even without the sheer commercial weight of her current stuff to back it up.

She wasn't even touching Spectrum on the current run. If you can toss one of your biggest hits by the side and still deliver a good show, then you've got something good going on. (Coincidentally, see The 1975 and them phasing Chocolate out of shows gradually in the past six months too.)
