Why? Just because they are both rock? I really don't think there is too much cross over between the two tbh

GNR are probably the most similar act to QOTSA currently announced...

Yup, considering Glastonbury doesn’t tend to book much in the way of hard rock, putting the two biggest hard rock acts on up against each other at headliner time would be a bit of a shiter for fans of the genre, even if both acts aren’t necessarily very similar.

Other than the fact they use guitars to me there is nothing similar between GnR and QOTSA tbh.

And I struggle to see there being that much crossover.

But I do see the point your making however I'd probably say there was more crossover between QOTSA and AM if we are talking about fan appeal.

Either way theres far less between Elton and QOTSA than either and thats more the point.

QOTSA have also just been announced for my local outdoor gig venue/amusement park in Margate on Thursday of Glastonbury week.

They've got a brilliant line up on the outdoor stage this summer but this is one announcement that has surprised me.

For context this is the stage area of the park, for those who've not been: RS31337_Dreamland-43-of-50-v2-1536x522.thumb.jpg.b65000c3c19152a87be3b1a934c9218a.jpg

Biffy played it last year, didn’t they? Makes sense to continue with a mega band in that vein.

Forgot about Biffy, but yes... they are indeed comparable.

I've got tickets for Bastille and Groove Armada there this year but QOTSA just seemed next level when I heard this morning - above others they've got on like Tom Jones / The Streets / Dizzee / Olly Murs / McFly etc.

Couldn't bring myself to pay upwards of £95 for a ticket. Clearly others could 😅

Fair enough, certainly on the more expensive end. I bit the bullet and got standing tickets for Manchester, know I'd regret it if I didn't go, she's been on my list to see for years and I couldn't make Wireless last year. Hopefully you are able to pick up some below face value tickets on resale!

I think that works as an argument at a rockier festival but I feel like the pop/dance crowd might not be interested in either so the JP, dance area, arcadia etc would be way too busy

To wave my Ben Howard flag, he's very much shunned the fame/limelight pretty purposefully by completely changing his sound from his hugely popular debut album days. He nigh-on never touches any of his acoustic guitar, 'Keep Your Head Up' vibe songs anymore, and releases albums straddling the sound of The National/Bon Iver (though the quality does fluctuate a touch).

I hold my hands up to being a massive Ben fan, and love his new stuff as much as his old, but he does have a pretty big cult follwing still and is defo big enough to play an early Pyramid slot sort of show. Though, with his fairly experimental modern sound, I'm not sure how much the masses will be hugely enthused.

As always when he comes up in conversation, I have to recommend people listen to his second album 'I Forget Where We Were', because it's my favourite album of all time and frustratingly underappreciated

Album out 16th June, playing the RAH on June 1st. Pencil him in

new song here. Most mainstream-friendly thing he’s done in years although too little too late probably

Finch have announced two What It Is to Burn 20th anniversary shows later this year. Always kicked myself for not going to tenth anniversary shows all that time ago and thought I’d missed my chance so I’m all over the Manchester date:

Manchester New Century - 7th November

London O2 Forum Kentish Town - 8th November

(Funnily enough, there’s a DJ that goes by the name of Finch that I keep getting Songkick reminders for every time he tours so I just assumed it was him again, so was extra surprised to see it was the real deal this time).

10th anniversary was good! Don't think I'll be making this one though. Got 20 years of F4AF instead.
