Maybe I’m underestimating the appeal that first album has - it is great (as well as their other two, tbf). Reckon I’ll go to this anyway, especially with it being on a Friday. Another good act playing the worst venue in Manchester.

Nuno remains the #1 guitarist of all time in my book. My favourite band as a teenager. Still got a few rarities stashed away somewhere, when I used to use vinyl. Saw them doing Pornograffiti at the same venue which was ace. Will probably get a ticket.

She's still doing the HAIM APE date, and added shows (good for me). No mention of that festival (in cheltenham was it?) she was headlining, but that's gotta be off now, if not cancelled as a festival outright anyway. It is curious to me how it just seemed to stall tbf. I saw Friendly Fires at Reading Festival in 2011 and thought they were amazing, and then it just kinda stopped for them. Looks like their shows earlier this year was also all just playing their first album in full in smaller rooms. But I'm not sure what numbers those will have pulled in. Saw The Last Internationale years ago supporting somebody else I think. I saw them opening for Kings of Leon at Milton Keynes Bowl in 2014, along with Haim and Twin Atlantic. Seeing that I didn't know Twin Atlantic were still around until they were announced as Royal Blood's stand-ins to open for Muse in Glasgow as RB are at Glastonbury instead, that makes two members of that bill who I've been given reminders of existing this year. Neat.

After Pala they talked about releasing material that was gonna be less poppy and more experimental which then never materialised, then dropped off the face of the earth completely for a few years before coming back with the still very poppy new album, but by then people had largely moved on, which is a shame because I thought it was great. Definitely one of the better indie-pop acts of their time and one of the few I still bother with now - they just had great tunes and, as you say, a fantastic and fun live show. I saw Friendly Fires years ago when they toured their debut album. Loved it! Saw them again when they toured their latest album, even better. I love Ed's energy & dance moves. Very fun. finn_with_1_n
I second all the things about Friendly Fires remaining a brilliant live act. Ed’s dancing is kinda like if Future Islands wasn’t so much a spectator sport also just had this ad come up. don’t know if this is a smaller, one-off intimate show or if this is simply the size of venue they can book after everything that has come out in recent years. they’ve done Brixton the last two times they came here
