I think you could see Fred, Kylie, Stevie Wonder if Olivia goes for Reading. If Stevie said no then Rihanna would be an easy option...not sure she's not even lined up. Fred, Rihanna and Stevie would be the worst case scenario I think. Ideally and realistically it would be Olivia, Fred and Green Day.

Rihanna would be a far bigger get than Olivia or Kylie

Definitely not a worst case trio that (except for your taste!)

You think Rihanna is a bigger get than Olivia? Entitled to your opinion.

Also, why the ! at the end of your comment? It's my view and my taste, I don't really like two of them and not really bothered if Stevie does it or not and I'm allowed that view. Don't post a comment berating someone's opinion when that person hasn't called out you on your taste.

I think Stevie's definitely in the frame, especially if was indeed lined up for this year before dropping out. Fred has to be a lock. I don't see Kylie coming back yet personally - Olivia feels most likely but I also wouldn't bet against Sam Fender, Rihanna or Green Day. I think Gaga may well want to her own thing next year.

I'll plump for Fred (Fri) - Green Day (Sat) - Stevie (Sun) but I wouldn't be too disappointed with any of the names listed.

I'm just not sure they would go for Stevie again if this year was going to be a stand in. I really wouldn't rule out Olivia, Fred and Rihanna being the top 3. If Glastonbury get Green Day over Download that tells us a lot about the idea of playing Download for some bands where by they accept a fee of 800k to 1m less not to play it. They are not a band that needs Glastonbury coverage to sell.

Cant see Rhihana being anything other than a priority target  she is either number 1 target for this year or she is not a contender.  She is definitely in the top tier of acts.

She is definitely a level above O-Rod & Fred probably say a bigger get than Greenday aswell if they pull it off.

I feel like Green Day will do Glastonbury and wasn’t there a rumour Rihanna didn’t want to play live these days? I think the fact that Stevie has announced some dates and rumours were he was drafted in last minute last year adds to the fact that he might do it.

I’d say Fred Again - Olivia Rodrigo - Stevie Wonder seems the safest bet currently unless they want two female headliners they could potentially go with Fred Again - Olivia Rodrigo - Rihanna but not sure that feels right.

Rihanna on the pyramid on the sunday is absolutely fine, though i'd really bloody love Stevie Wonder headlining West Holts on the same night - it'd be fantastic. See if he fancies it! (i know its unrealistic, but indulge me)

I'm surprised Rihanna being bigger than Olivia Rodrigo is even a debate.

Not debating OR isn't massive when looking at Spotify plays or ticket sales, but feels a bit like another SZA situ.

She'd do a lot better than SZA

Rihanna has got bangers for days - too many to fill a ninety-minute show, in fact, I'd argue.

Olivia Rodrigo meanwhile has more crossover with the Radio 2 demographic than SZA, I'd also argue. (Please do shout accordingly otherwise.) I don't think she'd have the fear of playing to a half-empty field.

Speaking of half-empty fields, I love Iron Maiden. But I cannot figure out what metrics they've looked at to think they'll sell out London Stadium - which is at least 70,000 to be filled these days - when they have three other UK shows eating into those sales.

Agree that Maiden stadium show is a slightly odd one. Love them (they SHOULD easily fill stadia imho, but I suspect they won't) - I would definitely have been one of those 70k, but... it's on Glastonbury weekend! Will be heading to Birmingham instead. Wish they would play G but don't see it happening alas.

I think its 100% down to Steve Harris being a massive West Ham fan to be honest, and fair enough to him, why not!

If they pitch the prices decently - about £60 or £70 and not very much more - i think they can just about sell it out.

I don't see Olivia announcing a big tour and having to cancel it due to not selling well. Olivia is the bigger ticket shifter right now without a doubt. Can't see people giving a flying shite if Glastonbury bag Rihanna or not....or I couldn't before the newer pop generation has come...even then I'm not sure.

Not really, there was a very clear point of pointing out my tastes as an issue.

Rihanna is said to want to ticket some things off before she finishes up.

Agreed! I think/hope they will keep prices sensible, as they've been one of the few big acts to resist silly prices up to now. Seem to actually give a sh*t about their fans*

*hope this does not age poorly 👀

Oh, Maiden are terrific, and I've stood on a hill for years that they should be in the Glastonbury conversation. Always maintained they could smash a ninety-minute headline show, a la:

Aces High

2 Minutes to Midnight

El Dorado

Can I Play With Madness

Revelations

The Trooper

7 Phantom of the Opera

The Wicker Man

The Evil That Men Do

10 Fear of the Dark

11 Iron Maiden

12 The Number of the Beast

13 Hallowed Be Thy Name

14 Run to the Hills

But the sad fact is that Dickinson has chafed at the suggestion before (likely more so because they haven't been asked) and that Rod Smallwood's bean counter wouldn't look at Glastonbury as a feasible prospect, even with its long-term commercial value, if they ever were asked.

I think it will age poorly. The prices for Birmingham are, including fees:

£87.80
£99.10
£110.40

I'd imagine that's £80, £90 and £100 with fees on top, or maybe £75, £85 and £95. Either way, it's going to be a hard sell to see them shift even north of 50,000, let alone the 70,000 it will be at capacity for.

This being said, the press statement announcing the tour said they were looking forward to playing to "over 60,000 fans". Perhaps the stage is further forward, maybe they will sell less standing, maybe they will have a GA that includes parts of the lower tier (this generally reduces capacity in order to not oversell).

With a quality support act - and this is with no disrespect to Halestorm, who will pull a few extra thousand in - they might get over the line. But think any hope of this being a sell-out is crackers.

As awful as it sounds, I could see one of those UK arena shows in March suddenly vanish due to "schedule conflicts", with fans offered tickets in return for the London date. But maybe that's the pessimist in me.

That'd be a killer set, and if the band wanted to do it I reckon Rod would go all out to get the slot for them. I'd love to see them up there but it's not going to happen. It's a shame if only because you know there'd be a couple of epic show specific shirts!

The long term commercial value thing is an interesting one, is it still as much of a thing now that people seem to stream everything as when it did translate to physical sales?

Hoping to take in a European date next year, so will be keen to see what the shirts are like. The NZ one the other week looked grand.

I thought halestorm were a decent support
