If I'd wanted, could've got floor or lower tier, with prices up to £160. but all seemed to be going quickly. Well, I think it's official - I'm never going to be able to afford to see a 'big' band/artist ever again! Small gigs only for me now! Did get tickets for a later run, but that was the one that was understandably canned.

This is not me being critical of the decision to pay that much, let me stress - that's just me feeling incredulous that we are at a point where that can be the price for a DJ set in an academy venue.

I get that point although it's for a certain show. It's not just a your standard playing a show in say Ministry of Sound or something. I will admit that I did expect is to be close to say £45 but I guess it's not just cheap all the lazers and production that go into it. I was going to see him at amnesia play a similar show a few years back in ibiza but I couldn't make it so this is kinda a one time thing. I don't think he's likely to announce another date either and it's one show that I wasn't willing to grab on twickets later. This might seem like be justifying it and it probably is but I find it different yo paying £70 for a band that I don't feel have progressed but degressed in their quality of output and this what I would get to hear when when I paid say £35-45. This is a more advanced show though, I like a lot of trance. I would also rather pay £60 in an academy venue than £75 in an arena where I have to get there really early to not be far back. Academy over arena all day.

The frustration there is that while it will be a pristine pop show, it is also purely on-rails and pretty short for what you'd hope - a well-drilled ninety minutes, fat-free but without much more beyond it. If he was carting the full orchestra around with him for it, then sure. But they're still prices that, for what you get, are pretty soft. Supports in the USA included Rooney just doing forty-five minutes. You're not exactly getting plenty of tuneage for those prices - and I say that as somebody who loves ELO. I’m doing Birmingham and BST. Never seen Jeff live but finally putting that right at (hopefully) his last Birmingham show and then the last ever one. I know what you mean though, the USA shows are fairly lean. Maybe the UK arena shows will have a support, or perhaps a slightly longer setlist. CaledonianGonzo
I saw em at the Hydro on their first comeback tour and they definitely had a support (The Feeling)
gfa
£60 is a joke for a solo DJ at their own show Not even a big one at that, think chems were a similar price as that and there's two of them to pay (+ bigger team) with a much more expensive rig etc.

I don't think I've ever seen a ticket for a show in the UK more expensive than this.

Avalon_Fields
It’s a really high price because you don’t have to meet Jeff Lynn!
NorthernSoul52
As for Jeff Lynne's ELO, it was The Feeling in 2016 (forty minutes) and Billy Lockett in 2018 (forty minutes) on the UK arena tours. Tom Chaplin and The Shires for the big Wembley show which gave it more of a feel. But prices with fees for 2016 were £56.75 to £124.85, and for 2018, they were £58.25 to £128.30. I guess we are just seeing the natural creep of inflation. At the end of the day, stick somebody on at 1930 for an hour, then let Jeff play for his ninety minutes from 2100 and you're fine. Handshake
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but if it’s happening I could see them being booked for the farm. Could fit on any stage.

NorthernSoul52
Pyramid sub in 2010 when they last played. Think the discussion of them being third down seems reasonable, especially if those arena sales are robust.

The ticket prices for ELO are no more or less than I expected really. I paid £120 (plus fees) for seats towards the bottom of the upper tier, halfway along the left. If you analyse it, it is ridiculous but UK punters have clearly shown their willingness to pay these sort of prices and thus it’s now the norm. How long before Glasto really bumps up the ticket cost? Reformation, were huge, have a fanbase sure, but I just can't see people actually forking out for a show with all other shows that are going on. Time will tell.
