No I wanted to say it sounds worse than it probably is, but I didn’t know how well that would go down. There’s probably a hell of lot worse that goes down that’s under the radar.

I emailed Festival Republic last week:

When are you going to announce details of the new Festival to replace V Festival please? It’s now been over 3 months and no news at all. Thanks.

Their reply on Friday was:

Hi

A date hasn't been confirmed for this announcement yet.

Kind regards

Which suggests they will be announcing something.

I am taking this as a positive !!!

I am thinking either this week or next for the announcement.

Tickets in the past have gone on sale beginning of March

Artic Monkeys?

Doubt AM.

FR boss, Melvin Benn from a recent interview when asked about not booking AM for R&L

"... They've got their own plans.

You sort of know when someone's around and wanting to play, and it wasn't clear to us that they wanted to play, so we didn't push too hard."

Me too, especially when the reports said it would continue at both venues this year. Weston Park was often forgotten about by the promoters, it was all about Chelmsford being near to London, and the celebs going there. Been to V Weston Park since 2006. Going to be strange this year.

it wasn't the promoters making those celebs go to Chelmsford.

I didn’t say it was, the majority of celebs are going to go to a Festival near London, than one in Staffordshire, I guess. However, why did the media often only refer to V Festival as being in Chelmsford, and why did they generally only ever show footage from Chelmsford, on the tele?

because London-based news teams don't travel unnecessarily?

it's the same with Reading/Leeds too. It's always hassle for efestivals to try to get photographer access at Reading, because it's chocked-out with tabloid snappers who might (just might) use one photo in their Sunday editions (while efests would give the stage full coverage if they'd let us). There's a lot of the media who've yet to wake up to a changed world.

Then again, the population nearby for Chelmsford (or Reading) is massively greater than close to Staffordshire (or Leeds). So from that angle, if they're covering just one, the one with the big population is the one they'll want.

Didn’t V sell more tickets for Weston Park than Chelmsford last year, and I believe I read somewhere Weston Park was actually the bigger venue of the two? Naturally, I’m cheesed off they appear to have binned Weston off, after the news reports stated the new Festival would continue at both venues. Still hoping something will be sorted for Weston ;)
