Park and camp question

Hi all

Planning a return to WOMAD next year and looking into the Park & Camp option.

Have any of you used this- I just wondered as we are going with friends and want to camp together do you get allocated a spot or is it just take your pick when you arrive?

I bought a Park & Camp (not Meadow) ticket in 2016. Back then they parked us up in a similar fashion to the car parks, i.e. a row at a time with the usual fire breaks every other row. There were no pre-allocated plots. Someone did ask if a plot could be kept free next to them as they had friends arriving a little later and the steward allowed that, but I can't say for certain whether that was just luck or a generally acceptable request. I would suggest arriving in convoy if feasible, just in case.

Thanks Chas- would you say it was worth the extra?

I suspose it's comparable to paying extra for a Campervan ticket. You don't have the hassle of having to carry all your gear from your car to the camp sites and there's the convenience of being able to lock things away in the car without the walk back to the car park.

As Womad 2016 was my last ever festival after 40 years, Reading 76 being my first, I treated myself to a Park & Camp ticket just so I could relax more and go out on a high, so for me it was worth the extra expense.

My aging dog has thoroughly enjoyed 2017 so far, as there have been no trips to the kennels to stress him out .
