That Pyramid Friday is pretty wack tho. Janet Jackson subbing? Weezer third down Pyramid? What's going on there?

Are you saying that's weak? Cos that's like the strongest day. Weezer seem pretty perfect for the Friday evening Pyramid rock slot that they have nowadays, and Janet Jackson is a big fuckin name whose next comeback is probably gonna be hyped as hell.

Not a huge amount for me there to be honest, a Pyramid headline trio would be more than enjoyable but there isn't much grabbing me in the day time.

Gotta agree with Mash here - Weezer don't seem like a third down Pyramid act at all to me (definitely one for Other) and Janet Jackson isn't much of a household name (music-wise) over here to justify subbing and I reckon she'd more likely be one or two below (or just not there at all, but hopefully there as it'd be awesome).

Also a ton more questionable decisions on that prediction but as somebody's whose predictions are all over the place themselves I'll just leave it at that.

unsure about MAJOR hype, but could be in demand after that unexpected pregnancy and cancelling the rest of her tour. Now with new music out, she could be in with a shout (unsure about that sub slot though)

Weezer were playing similar venues last year to the ones ZZ Top and Motörhead were doing before they played third down Pyramid - all three playing Wembley Arena - so I don’t see the big deal on that one.

The Janet Jackson one is supposed to be kinda questionable cos it’s a sub slot but I think it makes some sense and suits the headliner that night. I was actually thinking about your Jamiroquai shout but reckoned I needed another prominent woman in there.

ZZ Top and Motorhead are both massive names though who most Pyramid-dwellers will know, and I'd say they both suit that slot much more than Weezer. Defo can't see Weezer on Pyramid.

Edit: When ZZ Top and Motorhead were announced on the initial posters, everyone's immediate thought was that they'd definitely be on the Pyramid. With Weezer I'd immediately think Other Stage.

I’m with dental on the Weezer thing, could see them playing that slot even if they’re slightly different to the previous acts. Not so sure about Janet Jackson but I can understand the thinking behind it.

Yeah I don't see that at all, Other sub is perfect for them.

Must be the only time Weezer have been compared to ZZ Top and Motorhead ?

I think Weezer would be ideal subbing the Other or headlining JPT. Sadly they have let me down on the Glasto front for the past 3 fests so I don't expect them to be there.

They didnt even get third at R&L, i reckon 4th down would be more their level imo

Pretty sure he was making a joke about Dental saying ZZ Top, Motorhead and Weezer have all played Wembley Arena. No one's actually predicting The Wombats to play high up the Pyramid, Glasto don't work like that.

Does Lady Gaga's Vegas residency preclude her? Don't know any details of it so can't be sure

It ends on June 14th for the summer and picks up again in October. Considering shes kinda due another album and we know shes been working on stuff other than The Star Is Born (w/ DJ Whiteshadow, Bloodpop, SOPHIE, Boys Noize, Mark Ronson etc.).

I think the residency starts in december, so if she drops a single around then, June would look right for a potential album release

Is Gaga headline material anymore? Her last album flopped hard, are people still interested?

Subbing Madonna on the other hand...

I mean the tour still sold out and grossed $95 million. Cheek To Cheek wasnt a big amash either she was just doing some more experimenting and looking at the collaborators for her next album she's going back to her roots.

Heck people always complain we aint getting any new headliners but someone as big as Gaga is too small? People think someone like Stormzy would sell better than Gaga?

Speaking of stormzy.. he has posted this on his Instagram story. Unsure what to make of it if any form of hint, but probably nothing like.

I’m saying Gaga would be a very weak booking in 2019. I just don’t think she’s big or relevant enough anymore.

Glastonbury headliners aren't about selling tickets - it'll sell out regardless. Giving Stormzy the gig would be a huge deal, a bold and pretty great move from the festival giving a push to a currently popular UK music scene and the star of that scene. Giving it to Gaga would just leave a lot of people puzzled as she hasn't had a 'hit' in a long time. She's big enough to headline, but why now!?

I mean in that instance you could say the same about Madonna, her last big hit was what, Hung Up?

Gaga with a new pop album coming out as well as a movie and las vegas recidency, why not now? Shes doing fine in that regard imo. Sure no hit song recently but thats the only thing she aint got going for her. Shes got a good back catalogue so could fill a whole hour, relatively popular with most people (due to Cheek To Cheek and Joanne being relatively well acceoted with older & rock/jazz/country fans) and will have newer material to play too
