Gaga's the same kinda deal as Katy Perry ain't she? Can't she take that 3rd down slot?

Is Stormzy genuinely ready to headline? He may be Grime's biggest star but I'm not sure he'd hold on to a large crowd at the Pyramid. He's no megastar like Kanye/Jay Z and doesn't have much of a back catalogue. It was dispiriting seeing the empty OS for BBK last year. Kudos for trying something different though (if true).

Heck people always complain we aint getting any new headliners but someone as big as Gaga is too small? People think someone like Stormzy would sell better than Gaga?

We don't just want smaller headliners. We want more interesting, risky headliners and up and coming acts. Not acts who are past their peak.

Madonna is a slightly different prospect to Gaga.

Madonna is Madonna. Lady Gaga looked like she was gonna be the next Madonna before she fucked it and released a couple of shitty albums and has yet to recover from this slump. Definitely can't see her being booked to headline any time soon because of that.

He's pretty big and has a reputation for being great live too. He wouldn't pull the biggest crowd by some margin but neither would it be embarrassingly small. Assuming he'd have a new album out and a bunch more hits from said album I can see a headline set from him going down pretty damn well, and probably a lot better than Kanye and Jay Z before him.

As someone who knows fuck all about Grime, Id never heard of BBK. (Id heard of the individual parts) just never knew they were a group. Stormzy is bigger, a recognisable face  & much more cross over. Give him a go I say.

I dunno it just seems silly to me, Gaga has been one of the biggest and influential artists of the past 10 years or so (only others that I can think of that are on her level are Rihanna, Kanye and T Swizzle).

She'd probably be on the cheaper end too as I agree she would be coming out if a bit of a slump, but she's also an act I'd have no doubt would take the pay cut to play.

Personally I think Stormzy would get a sub slot on Pyramid, I think Gaga will sub next year, her Vegas residency with a gap points so it for me but could be wrong.

Madonna has a 30 year career featuring some of the biggest pop bangers ever made to fall back on. Gaga has one album that everyone knows and a handful of other singles. It’s not really a comparison.

FWIW I’d happily see Gaga in a sub slot, but a 2019 headliner she is not.

All pop stars have a point where the crowd moves on, female pop stars in particular. Madonna's career is littered with slumps, flops and commercially unappealing projects, but she made her legacy by standing firm and reminding the world of the arsenal of hits that she has. I see no reason why Gaga can't do the same and I actually think her Superbowl and Coachella slots are testament to this.

Stormzy isn't going to headline I doubt, he's done an academy tour and headlined Wireless which is even at the biggest artists they book for it headlining Other at the max. I could see him doing the spot Dizzee Rascal did twice but to be honest he'd be perfect for closing out Other like C&S did. R&L are way more likely to take a punt on him as a co-headliner. I think there will be one co-headliner as there seems too many options for it not too and a couple that may not get an outright but Stormzy is not the size and status of Kendrick that will get an outright yet.

Quite.  You can pick out some absolute turd from Madge's back catalogue if you go through it.  Her survival has very much been about recognising when she's been slumping or pissing everyone off, and reacting accordingly. Look at early to mid 90s, Erotica and all the gumpf that went with it had actually started to damage her so the response was the much softer Bedtime Stories and the Something to Remember compilation. Gone a bit quiet again? Shift tempo and drop Ray Of Light.

Something to Remember came out 10 years after Madonna, which is about where Gaga is in her timeline after The Fame.  Like you sid, no reason why she can't / won't do the same. Based on Ray Of Light I'm predicting an absolute belter from Gaga in the next couple of years.
