Southgate needs to start earning his growing reputation tonight. Changes may need to be made against Sweden in my opinion - hope he isn't swayed by players in that first 11 saying they feel good when they aren't (e.g. Alli in the last one). Would rather rotate in a few now than allow players that havent fully recovered from that extra time give a lacklustre performance.

Also, first time ever that one of Germany, Brazil or Argentina have never made the semis.

I have heard a few people coming out with the line that this England team are more grounded as they have had loan moves outside the premiership, I think that is bollocks.

That’s always happened hasn’t it? Likes of lampard and beckham went on loan to lower league sides.

Most of the young West Ham contingent in the late 90s early 2000s did. Rio, Lampard, and Carrick all did. Only one that didn’t was Cole I think.

Not from friends. I read it on the paper (can’t remember sun/mirror) in barbers, also mentioned on times podcast, 5live and possibly one of the press conferences, just seemed particularly dumb journalism.

I think the English should be more optimistic. Not one Swedish player would make the England squad never mind the team. Sweden is about the easiest quarter final you can get, they also won’t kick the crap out of England like Switzerland would. My prediction a 3-0 win for England and mass hysteria after the final whistle.

Completely agree that England should find Sweden a pushover. My only concern is that England have struggled a bit in open play and Sweden's height and organisation will make scoring from set pieces harder.

3-0 still sounds about right though.

This Sweden side are championship standard. I don’t find England the most exciting team to watch, but professional first half and heading for comfortable win.

That was... professional. A weaker team dispatched without too much fuss. Pickford made s few saves but we were never uncomfortable.
