Thanks for all your advice - it is much appreciated. One final one if I may, we are staying off-site and can't get to the festival until about 4.30pm on Wednesday - how long is it likely to actually take to get into the festival at this time?

Usually you get in in less than 30 minutes by that time. Maybe you can try to reach the entrance from the "secondary entrance" (the parking lot) rather than K Hid Bridge, as it is less crowded - just ask to the taxi driver to get you there if he gets English enough.

About the first line queue, I gotta say that probably you will have to queue on the main stage from the first act to get to the first row, because people will start queuing early for Foo Fighters show (as they did for Arctic Monkeys last year, I suppose). Last year we got the first lane during AM only beacuse a thunderstorm happened and we saw The War on Drugs under the rain.

Another thing I'd like to stress out: at Sziget recently I had more troubles with crowd of screaming girls rather than mosh - last year one girl almost broke my nose jumping for Alex Turner. Of course if it's a 14 yo girl we are talking about things might be different, but in any case, I wouldnt let her queue alone in a show of 80k people, because that day you will get both the crowds and it will be packed as fuck (14 yo girl screaming for 21 and metalhead-ish for Frank Carter/Idles and Foo).

Other general statement: better in front than in the first half, because if she gets troubled she can easily get out by the barricade, escorted by the security and usually the clusterfuck is not on the barricades (few exceptions made: The Prodigy), so even if it sounds counterintuitive, pushing for the frontline is not a bad idea at all, even if you have to make your way out of it!

Hey there - quick question for today. On Google Maps, what locations exactly are the entrances. I am entering on Tuesday, is there a better one to go in at? Which area of the island is the best place to camp too?

Depends how you arrive,  bus or taxi will be across the first bridge

boat will enter at the dock at the side of the festival

Everyone else enters over the k bridge which is nearest the train station and car showtoooms

Where does the boat depart from and arrive at one the island? Which entrance is the best to use - will be coming from the city centre area near the main train station probably on public transport i guess

Anyone have any guesses for when 7 day tickets might sell out? Won't be able to book until April and starting to doubt that it's early enough.

They haven't even gone up to the final price tier yet, and they won't until 7th march. I doubt 7 day passes will be sold out by April but I don't know.

Random speculation, but reckon Friendly fires could play this as they don't have many shows booked yet and they would seem appropriate for a lower down act during the day on the main stage or A38 sub/3rd down.

If your at the main train station.  Get the tram to Margit hid station then get on the overground train a few stops. 30mins max.  You would enter through the main entrance.

Thanks. What areas on the map are the best bits to camp then? I know shade is vital but areas to avoid in particular? We want a good like group of people around us not completely alone but not too noisy in the night but definitely a bit of a party after the headliners.

Your map is really outdated - i think it's 2014? This one is from last year:

If you are not going to any of the upgraded campsites (which are definitely better) then I'd say the area between sports-zone and beach is the best. Most of the area is under shade. It is pretty lively but does not get carried away if you stay away from the walking paths. The area around main stage and A38 tends to be really crowded and noisy. Camping there, especially next to walking paths, is not recommended. It will be really dusty and if weather conditions are bad, really muddy, too. If you can find something close to Apero camping or the dance & theater stage, it will be pretty quiet during the night.

Upgraded campsite wise:
Siesta - great location, under a shade, usually pretty noisy, mostly coming from Colosseum.

ECO - pretty okay location, under a shade, not noisy as Siesta, but there is still constant partying going on around the campsite

VIP - Probably the best location, but at the same time it is the noisiest campsite i'd say, as most of the stages are really close. If you manage to get a spot in the middle of VIP, it's slightly better, but there's not much room.

Apero - pretty far from most of the music program, but on the other hand it's pretty far from noise as well.

Alternativa - same as above, but even less noise.

The Green - assuming it's the same location. It is far far away and you have to go through security each time you enter. However, good-night sleep is guaranteed.

Podpads village (Bridge Camping next year) - location wise it's pretty good, most of the area is not under a shade tho, it's really open. As it is between the main entrance and main stages, it's just the sound of crowd that will be.. constant.

Thank you - what makes this upgraded camping so much better? The people in it like not having twats and stuff or what. Also can you only enter from the bridge on the first day, you can't enter on the bridge correct? Also which one is A38 - the map doesn't have the stage names :/ I know 38 is main, which are 9, 7, 12, 57, 47 and 48? Thank you for your help.

I think pod-pads are moving for 2019 away from the bridge

Miley Cyrus just announced for Radio One's Big Weekend and new album incoming. Potential Saturday night headliner?

Does she have any relevance in Europe now on?

I mean, if we skipped the bullet with Britney Spears the last year, I cannot see reasons why she should take the headliner slot.

Lost and forgotten after her hoe period.

Her newest song with Mark Ronson got to number two in the UK charts last month. Not sure elsewhere.

I'm not sure she's big enough to headline tbh but her songs on Spotify have hundreds of millions of listens so somebody likes her!

Still really hoping for a nice surprise of RHCP or The Strokes or even The Killers. Any of those 3 would go down so nicely. Booked my flights yesterday to Budapest.

1 Also, what makes this upgraded camping so much better? Is it the people in it, like not having twats and stuff or what.

3 Can you enter with your bags and tents on the early entry days or does everyone have to enter the festival for the first time through the main entrance? This is for tuesday entry if that changes anything, the boat is way nearer to our airbnb from monday night
