  1. 1. If The Cure were to headline would you be there? I'm intrigued due to the varied opinions of them on here.

    • Yes - Definitely, regardless of who else is on the other stages.
      209
    • More than likely - Depending on strength of the clashes on other stages.
      262
    • Unlikely - Know a couple of songs but there would probably be something else on you'd watch instead.
      194
    • No - Never been a fan so will definitely be elsewhere.

First saw them in April 1982 at Leicester Uni. Seen them a few times since, last time was a Reading Festival in 2012.

Still prefer their older stuff.

Would have to clash with something really major to stop me seeing them at Glasto.

I've been a cure fan all my life and right from the start. If you are new to The Cure I'd advise starting right at the beginning and working your way through in order. Watch out for 'Pornography' though, it's a bit of a curve ball.

I last saw them almost two years ago at Wembley and they were fucking sensational.

Having said all that, I just wish Depeche Mode could play (what is the problem there? Money?). They are adored all over the world for good reason and I'd love to see them win over Glastonbury.

The Cure were the first band I was really into. I listened to them heavily around the time Wish came out, devoured their entire back catalogue, but then by the time they released more records years later, I'd moved on. I was never much of a fan of their heavier, more dirge like stuff. So Pornography and Disintegration aren't really my thing. Am I missing much in their later work?

There's a few good tracks scattered across 'Wild Mood Swings', 'Bloodflowers' and '4.13 Dream' but there is a dip in overall quality I reckon.

I'd implore you to give Disintegration another go though. Have a toke (if that's your thing?) and slip the headphones on, it's majestic in places. The Mixed-up album is a cracker too.

Mixed up was the first record I ever bought. I enjoy it more these days than I used to.

can honestly say one of the best live acts i've ever seen.

Cannot agree more with Jah_Roots statement above. Again was first hooked after hearing them play Peel session. Finally managed to see them live twice in the same year at Crystal Palace bowl and Birmingham NEC. Think it was around 1986. Anyway both sets blew me away. Think the NEC gig was recorded by the BBC (could be wrong). Would love to hear that again, if still available?

Anyway I kinda moved on after Disintegration and have not listened to anything released after that, this may change..... Cannot speak for anything post Disintegration but Three Imaginary Boys, The Head On The Door, Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me hold very fond memories....

Kiss me(x3) was one of those double albums that should have been a single album though, wasn't it?

Blimey. Not so sure about that. Remember where I bought Kiss me. Our Price on Watford high St. Remember it being a double album, and being heavier. Obviously. Got home and put it on. Knew I was in for a treat because it took, what seemed liked ages for Smith's lyrics to come in on The Kiss. Wow. What a album this is. Took me on a lovely journey, everything from just mentioned to the snake pit and like Cockatoos, interspersed with Just like heaven. A real roller-coaster of emotion. Thoroughly recommend anyone dubious about the Cure headlining to listen to this album in full...

In answer to your question above. No, got double album written all over it ?

I know they played Crystal Palace in 1990, not sure about before then. I saw the Pixies there in 1991 - no alcohol on sale!

I went the Pixies one but we had passes cos my mate's girlfriend was the singer from The Boo Radley's sister so could get beer.

Great gig, wasn't you that swam the pond was it? :D

I was gutted when he split up with her, we were going to see them support Dinosaur Jr the month after. Passes revoked.

Holy Shit, that's brought back a previously buried memory. I was at that Crystal palace gig. 1990, right? went with some people I went to school with. Lush on the undercard? think that's what persuaded me to go (actually, I think it was also cos a vaguely goth girl I fancied was going), as even then, i didn't like the Cure. Had totally totally forgotten it. Even now, can remember nothing about the concert itself, apart from being 17 and geting staggeringly drunk on the train up.
