  1. 1. If The Cure were to headline would you be there? I'm intrigued due to the varied opinions of them on here.

    • Yes - Definitely, regardless of who else is on the other stages.
      209
    • More than likely - Depending on strength of the clashes on other stages.
      262
    • Unlikely - Know a couple of songs but there would probably be something else on you'd watch instead.
      194
    • No - Never been a fan so will definitely be elsewhere.

Nope. I was made up because they did Sometimes, Tomorrow and Out to Get You, and my mates were all pissed off because they didn't play Sit Down. Laughed my arse off.

These were the same guys that were hacked off when Springsteen didn't play Born in the USA as well

I thought it was a good set . They don't always play sit down and I'm glad they've got plenty of other hits and newer hits like curse curse are great

Can't wait for #whothefuckarethecure to trend when they're announced.

I swear the sort of people who moan about Glastonbury headliners on Twitter are the kind of people that hear a Cure song every hour on Radio X.

What's with that rogue apostrophe in The Cure's Twitter bio? Professionalism lads, for fuck's sake.

This seems worse. Could be completely avoided by using 'THEIR' but instead the band is referred to as 'IT', which is weird af.

Their Twitter is dumb anyway. Checked it the other day to see if there'd been two or three European fests announced so far. Last tweet and pinned tweet were both about BST. Now they've posted a teaser for this Dublin date but haven't tweeted any of the festivals they've been announced for. Honestly just get them off the Glasto bill they're doing my head in now.

I went to a meeting/presentation at my daughter's primary school today and I noticed the following errors:

* Two rogue apostrophes

* The headteacher referred to rolling "a dice"

* Her teacher said "less" when he should have said "fewer"

Bloody disgrace.

I think a lot of the problem is that while he did play those, they were all right at the end of the set by while point he'd already lost a decent chunk of the audience with a fairly downbeat set. The set order is almost as important as the song choice.

Other songs he could of chucked in that I'd expect most people to know - My Hometown, Hungry Heart, and Streets of Philadelphia. Those 3 plus a few lively songs like Rosalita, Growing Up or Spirit in the Night chucked in there would've made a huge difference.

Yeah this is true I reckon. I went along with high hopes having heard he was brilliant live but only really knew the hits. Was bored to tears until dancing in the dark and born to run right at the end.

If this was the Springsteen thread, I'd be offering up my typical response of an ideal setlist.

But we appear to have somewhat hijacked The Cure's thread to talk shop on the Boss instead.

Agreed. Back on track.

I've given their Best Of a proper few spins over the last week or so, and I am now fully on board with these lads appearing on Friday night.  As with any band it'd still depend on who they were up against and what mood I was in come the evening, but I could definitely see myself there :)

It's got some corkers on it, that album. Would probably be happy to see virtually every track off there, along with another ten choice cuts or show. Depends how long they play for.

get a copy of Seventeen Seconds and give that spin.

(Preferably in a darkened room and with a few carrots to accompany it :P)

This 2013 setlist is possibly as closest to a full-blown hits setlist as you'd get. No sign of A Forest or a few of the more prominent album cuts like Push, but pretty all-encompassing and runs in at a shade over two hours.

The show can be found here, for those interested, though the mix isn't fantastic. Video broadcasts of them don't tend to be.

Look, Buck Rogers, times have changed.

https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/dice

"Historically, dice is the plural of die, but in modern standard English dice is both the singular and the plural: throw the dice could mean a reference to either one or more than one dice."

Also, what's your beef with Disintegration when it's clearly an absolute bop?

I'm literally spitting feathers at these corruptions of the English language.

I'd already started watching this before I came in this here thread. Spooky. Stonking setlist.

I could care less.

Ooh, that gets me every time! @stuartbert two hats the English language always evolves over time, otherwise we would still be using thee, thy, and thou. Just like the legend slot evolved to accommodate a band.:D

One day no-one will have a clue what we are talking about as auto-correct will take over and people will be too damn lazy to change the word. Tis the future...like garlic bread.
