Nah, if he’s asked he can answer. You can have complaints with small issues at the same time as the big ones.

I see where Williamson is coming from, but I don’t think Idles really sing about being poor do they? Feels a bit like he’s weakly accusing them of something like “champagne socialism”. I don’t know anything of Idles background, but if they are more middle class I do see why he could find it frustrating that they’re finding success on a Punk for the Many type platform. Not really their fault though, I think they’re sincere, which is the important thing.

Sleaford Mods are the better band but I do think sometimes he doesn’t realise they’re actually pretty weird and always going to be a niche concern.

Still, I think it’s a fantastic record and personal attacks on the band aren’t the way to go. As has been said, you’d think Williamson would have bigger fish to fry.

I like a lot of Sleaford Mods stuff, but Williamson is being a tit if thinks he should gate-keep who's allowed to write songs about sociopolitical matters affecting working class folk, because he thinks he's working class and Idles aren't. Sounds like he needs to pull his head out of his arse.

Williamson lives in the same part of Nottingham as I do, he's definitely not working class anymore.

Shaun is the kind of one-dimensional bore that would chuck similar classist nonsense at the likes of Joe Strummer. The minute I hear this kinda nonsense it puts me off immediately. His music is ace, but he comes across like a prat in this.

But Jason was asked a question in an interview and responded with his honest grievances. Don’t get why it’s treated the same as what Lias has done - taking aim at two bands in the caption to a pic of FWF tour dates.

? Sleafords tour is nowhere near sold out, although they are playing a lot of shows.

I don't think he was deliberately trying to capitalise on IDLES' success, but they are much the bigger act right now.

Yeah, maybe, but they’re all in the business of show. He knows the value of a bit of controversy.

Jason is just a normal bloke. Nice interview with him here from last week. Didn't know he was a drugged up alco and his missus moved out with the kids a few years back, psychotherapy etc.

Despite the slagging off of Idles, its lazy by the press to compare these bands by chucking them all in the "punk" or "working class" basket as the limit of their analysis. Almost every interview I've heard with Jason hes been asked about "working class" as a main question. 

Anyway two of the most exciting bands about, both busy this year. All good.

Yep. Saying he likes their first album, that they’re nice lads and they’ve had genuine struggles but somehow hates them now... that suggests it’s their success which has got his back up. 

I know a few people who’ve had dealings with them around Bristol and everyone talks about how genuine and friendly they are. Gigging for years, one works at the uni, one helped run a local music venue etc - it’s hardly manufactured pop band stuff. 

Jason having a pop at every opportunity comes across as needy.
