Return from Castle Cary

Supplementary question following @tarw's suggestion to get the shuttle bus to Castle Cary and train from there rather than trying to get to Taunton (expensive train or tight time or late home!).

How difficult is to get on the shuttle to Castle Cary and onto a train there.  I'm looking at a train from CC to Bath Spa that leaves at 12:18 .  It's much cheaper if I can just get a ticket on a specific time (£42 rather than nearly £90).

What time would I have realistically having to be queuing to be sure to get to CC and onto a train at 12:18?  10?  Earlier?  Is it absolute chaos at CC station?  Anything else I should take into account (bearing in mind I have to meet two further trains!)

Thank you if you can help!

Wouldn’t you get a direct train from Castle Carry to Taunton? Much quicker - aprox 20 mins and less than a tenner. Sorry might have missed something...

In 2015 got pretty much straight on the bus at about 5:45 in the morning and managed to catch the 06:35 train home - definitely missed the mass movement. I imagine it could take much longer after that (sorry not much help!)

Sorry - didn't explain myself well.  Taunton would only be the start of my journey back to Shropshire!  It's more or less the same journey from Castle Cary but I can only get on a coach to Taunton at either 6 or 1.30.  I can get the shuttle any time to Castle Cary.

We got a Seetickets coach from Taunton because we could, not because I live there!

I admire you being up and ready to get a coach at 5.45 but I can't see me being able to do that!!

Not up and ready - hadn’t gone to bed!

Have you tried the ticket split app for train tickets - think you can put a preference for flexible journey. Could be substantially cheaper than a normal single.

Think on a Monday it’s just generally busy getting off-site between 8-3!

Makes sense to get a train & shorter overall journey
