Flag question any help appreciated

Hi all

Been lurking in the weather thread but wanted to get some advice on this and it's a daft question but here we go...

What sort of size are people's flags at glasto? Doing a quick one this weekend and don't want it to be huge but equally don't want it to be too small. Never bothered before but fancy it  this time.

Also how long are your err poles?

Cheers!

Strong start - a new username and a new topic.  If I had one criticism, it would be that you've gone in too quickly with the above response - it's already got a hint of antagonism in it.  You'd have been better waiting for a few more replies to come in, and then getting involved in general chit chat before dropping the bomb that you want the flag for in front of the main stage.  Then go through a bit of chatter where you're genuinely appearing to try to reason with everyone before launching into a "you're just a bunch of do-gooders/nerds/snowflakes/whatever" tirade.

I'd seriously advise you to reregister, start a new thread and aim for a much more gradual development.  If people don't believe you from the start, it's going to be a damp squib and a waste of everyone's time.

As you can probably tell, flags are not generally considered a great item.  Mostly because they block the view for people further back in the field.

Having one at your tent, or to just carry around?  Well, that doesn't really inconvenience others.

I personally have a 6m pole with a flag about 05. x 0.5m on it, which I stick next to the campervan with some lights on it.  That's as far as it goes for me.

Are you sure you want one to take on site?  They seem like a massive headache to me, to carry around.  They don't fold up that small (the poles), so you're stuck with it all day, even if it's not for carrying to the front of the stage.

We have had a flag  since we started taking the kids in 2007. It's a home made one ( from a section of old tent) painted by them. Its always put up at our camp as soon as we arrive and has proved invaluable over the years to us, kids, friends and nearby campers over the years. Helping us all get back to camp .

Thanks for the helpful reply mate. It isn't one to take front and centre of a stage - as you say its more for the tent and possibly a couple of outings to help find people as there's a few different groups not all camping in the same place.

0.5 seems sensible. Nice one.

Nice idea, I bet your kids will be taking to festivals for years with all the memories attached to it
