The Killers

Honestly, all three "new" tunes for the Rebel Diamonds compilation felt like they were Brandon solo cuts more than tunes for The Killers. I know he says they scrapped an album and those were the leftovers they wanted to keep.

But each one is basically a twist on a different touchstone: Boy is Erasure's A Little Respect gone heartland disco, Your Side of Town is a Pet Shop Boys-twist on New Order's True Faith, and Spirit is basically a club-rock interpretation of Underworld's Born Slippy.

That's not exactly new: Imploding the Mirage felt like a big grab bag of different influences. (Running Towards a Place is pure Fleetwood Mac, Fire in Bone is Talking Heads in funk mode, When the Dreams Run Dry builds its outro off The Highwaymen's Highwayman, etc.)

But I'm a little surprised to not see Spirit get more airtime. Think all three could feature in a Brandon solo show.

Two albums - Flamingo and The Desired Effect.

Both have some alright tunes on them, although the blurriness of the lines of late means they could both be Killers albums imo.

I'll certainly give them a listen to! 👍🏻

Theyre turning themselves into a casino act now. 3 booked gigs over here now announced at sh*tty casinos with overpriced tickets. They really dont care now

Highland is the one that some fans seem to be particularly aggrieved by judging by comments from fans that didn't enjoy their previous visit there.

Then again, they've done a sh*t ton of corporate gigs over the years. I'm not surprised if they're doing gigs for the cash.

They can still shift tickets, so don't need to sell out too much.  Are these casino's sh*tty then?  The Vegas shows make sense I guess, being their roots etc. but?

I have no problem with bands chasing the cash.

I'm not necessarily opposed to it either, but it does seem as though after scrapping the album and using the singles for the Rebel Diamonds greatest hits parade, at what point do we think they'd have a better use of their time returning to the studio to make the next album?

I'm aware realistically they have the back catalogue to just play wherever they want, but it seems a bit being stuck on a loop.

Saying that, and as said, seems like we've been waiting a bit for the initially broadcast idea of a new Flowers solo LP.

Yamaava is like not that great of a casino since Ive actually been there. It had a different name before but they had a re brand and of course LN now uses it to put some high profile acts into a smaller setting and overcharge to kingdom come.  The Hard Rock in Wheatland kind of speaks for itself. I mean, I loved the Hard Rock in Vegas but one thats north of Sacramento aint it, esp there where its ghetto as hell. Harrahs in Laughlin, again, its f**king Laughlin. Youre on the border or Arizona and Nevada in the asscrack of the desert at a knock off of the original Harrahs in Vegas. And Laughlin is C level casino vibes. So yeah, theyre taking the money but also putting themselves at a level they shouldnt really even be considering for 15 years if theyre still a band by then. A friend of mine who is a huge Killers fan and went to the Vegas residency isnt gonna touch that Highland show with a 10 foot pole.

Yamaava( highland ) is crazy priced and I assume its due to the audience. Cause they comp a bunch of the good seats despite the fact that they ask $800 to be anywhere close at minimum. Just the other week there were people having a fight at Mariah Carey's holiday concert there. Who fights at a Mariah Carey show? Oh, drunk casino people.
