Too many connections

The last week or so I keep getting error 'too many connections' at certain times when I try and view topics. 

It looks like there are about 900 unregistered users browsing at the moment so it may just be congestion but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Isn't that a higher than usual number of guests though?

Some of what you've experienced (particularly Saturday and yesterday, and a couple of points today) might have been due to some major backups I've been doing. You'll be glad to know that's now finished.

However there's also been the same problem as an ongoing issue, which I'm looking into right now. If what I'm doing doesn't improve things i'll get the experts on it, so please bear with me.

the problem i've been seeing normally takes about a week after a reboot to show itself - so I won't know if anything has improved for around week.

Ha! Well, everything was fine first thing this morning, now it's not.

So i've raised a ticket with the people who know more than I do to take a look. Hopefully they'll find something.

This problem is still happening, although it hasn't caused the 'too many connections' error today yet as far as i know.

I noticed the server load was suddenly high earlier today, so already have someone looking at it. Hopefully this time they might actually find the problem.
