I checked the numbers on instagram, the lineup announcement has 260K views, Anyma 132K, Charli 172K and Chappell 468K. It looks like that Chappell is a good booking after all 🤷♂️
Its a combo of all of them. If you have nobody available, who do you book. If artists say no for whatever reason, what do you do. Since theres only the exclusive tag to worry about in the uk and eu then its a matter of who says yes, money aside. And these acts can tour around it and get money elsewhere if thats an issue. You can argue that they are sometimes behind the curve instead of ahead of it. Sza def will halt their progression theyve been making. Neil Young is a clear sign of that regardless of status. Fest comp wise it certainly doesnt matter since you announce so late, its sold out and everyone announces prior and sells tickets. This isnt america, much different where its how you see it. More money touring solo or taking the Live Nation route of playing 10 Lollapaloozas and watering down all the lineups. And Ive said it, they arent a king maker festival, so they just try to maneuver when it bests suits them on a new artist to be highly billed or headline. The irony here anyway is that coachella gets sh*t on because its an "influencer" festival. Yet they pay artists top dollar. Glastonbury doesnt pay much and pays with "exposure" aka influencer payment. I know they cant change their formula because this is for charity, but you just wonder whats gonna happen during the fallow because financially things will change a lot for artists, esp in america.
