I think there was probably more of a cultural shift and certainly huge chasm in how music was consumed/ enjoyed between 2018 or so and 2021 than the prior 30 years.
The main thing that has impacted the festival lineups though is the massive competition in the UK. Parklife, Truck, Victorious, Trees, Slam Dunk have all risen and take acts that otherwise would be available for Reading to bill.
it’s certainly the main reason they can only schedule 50% the number of acts they used to
That means it wont be them... Or maybe not as headliner.
If you see The Offspring Prague show ticket sale, it's almost sold out... They are now selling 2-3 times more than before. RA's attendance in Prague was poor, they had 1/2, maybe 1/3 of The Offspring show.
KoL is boring, but I they need a name that would be different from those 3 headliners.
Roxette are playing somewhere, but hopefully far away from Hradec 😂
GiR or Gizzard, why not? Could be their new Yungblud.
Fellow NYer! We’ve used Bath as our city to hang out in in the days before and after the festival for 3 festivals now and will again next year. Close to the festival, has camping stores and large grocery stores, no need for a car, direct train from London, OK restaurants, very pretty, and has some lovely fancy hotels for post-festival recovery before the plane home.
Our first year we did it because we had coach tickets from Bath, but this year we all struck out in the coach and all got general but we’re launching from Bath regardless cause it’s the best choice.
I know Hozier has had a number one single this year, which is likely going to give a career boost, but I feel like putting him on after Chappell Roan is a recipe for the crowd to melt away.
