With Glasto apparently cancelled and this being both one I’ve had my eye on for a while & the best odds of surviving the apoCovid ... hello EOTR! 👋

Spring festivals and tours are already being re-scheduled for September. Encouraging for EOTR.

Promoters don't know anything we don't, though - I think it's very likely EOTR will be cancelled

I'm thinking specifically about Bonnaroo, which is a festival with a vast amount of money at stake. Rearranged from May to September. Not a decision they would have taken lightly surely.

But, yes, could go either way.

Jazz Cafe have just announced Peter Broderick for Sept 3, makes me hopeful (both for a semblance of normality by then and perhaps an addition to the lineup)

Bearded Theory say they've been advised by govt that things should be back to normal in September.

Spaffer said 12 weeks yesterday. The medical bods refused to say the same.

;)

Good to know re BT.

If and when they actually make us have a proper lockdown, it really should die out within a few weeks. Whether and when that means we're allowed to 'gather' again, who knows.

That 12 week spaffer comment was fecking ridiculous. It wasn’t linked to anything, was a number out of his massive arse.

yup, but it sounds from what BT published as tho the govt are making up a number too, and putting it out as advise to businesses. ;)

It might turn out to be right of course and I hope it does, but right now it's a huge guess.

And they have now confirmed that social distancing may still be in place for potentially up to 12 months.

Social distancing would be needed for "at least half of the year" to stop intensive care units being overwhelmed, according to the government's scientific advisers. The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) recommended alternating between more and less strict measures for most of a year

Tbf he clarified he only meant the tide could be turned by then, not that it would be all over.

And what does “turning the tide mean”? If the deaths are still going up, it’s hardly turning the tide is it.

Detail is needed at this time, not empty positive rhetoric.

He didn’t explain what “turning the tide” meant, as such was an idiotic thing to give such a precise number when so meaningless.

Seems unlikely still but fingers crossed this goes ahead. I imagine the line up will be very changed though.

Wonder what the latest deadline for a decision would be? End of June, maybe as late as mid-July being independently run and the site build not having to be started that long in advance going by previous years?

But yeah, as much as there'd be a lot of acts who'd want to play somewhere by then the American-led booking policy is really going to bite it if it does go ahead in a way that it wouldn't Green Man, which has two European headliners, maybe three depending on where the rest of Caribou are based, and some that could step up a notch underneath.
