Corona Virus - Should we be worried?

I think any of us are capable of saying something offensive to some degree or other. Even if it's just accidentally swearing in front of someone's mum or something. But you apologise and everyone moves on. Defending your right to say m*therf*cking c*ntbiscuit in front of your best mate's nan is silly. Or being deliberately provocative.

I agree.

Yes it was a bad taste joke but in your defence you were only adding to the very unfunny disease ridden Glasto poster that someone else posted.

I too found the original poster to be unfunny. However, I found Chicken Bob's post to not only be unfunny (the very requirement for a joke to be a joke), but very much wandering in to the field of being cretinous. I guess, if I'm honest, it's this later point that disturbs me most.

I wondered how long it would be before a story like this surfaced.

Its weird. I've spent a lot of today with a headache and a few pains, which I would usually be comfortable dismissing as just problems with my sleep causing me troubles the day after and agitation at my brother for taking too long to get ready before going to work. But its really enough to put the fear of God into you when the news and pop culture is full of scare stories about a flu-like virus fucking stuff up everywhere and you spot some stuff in the ballpark.

I'm guessing its not given I've not been to a quarantined area - or indeed out of the UK since March last year, although given UK community transmissions have been reported in Surrey, it is still enough to be a little terrified. Maybe that's the new normal in the face of this.

I personally don't like deleting things from the internet. I also didn't want his comments to be like a bat signal in searches for more of the same. Twitter has enough of that. Thanks for backing me up. I know we don't always agree which makes it even more appreciated. X

You’re allowed to find it unfunny. That’s your opinion. But just because some people didn’t like it that means I have to be silenced ?? You can’t like everything everyone says. We don’t live in that sort of world do we ? But I guess it’s one rule for one and one for another with you lot isn’t it?

Hello H.M.V.

The deletion of the post does bother me a little, I must confess. That said, where would we be without any moderation.

I'm not getting the bat signal in search for more of the same bit. I think that I understand, but am not 100% sure. I'd be obliged if you'd put me out of my misery, by letting me know?

No problem backing you up.

Yeah we had a right proper fall out at one point. On reflection I'd say that we were both right to take our stance on that one. Strangely enough that all boiled down to a vow I made to my wife that I wouldn't spend a night away from her. Then the issue of me having a Glastonbury ticket came up, so I never went to it. The thing is we have since spent time apart. It all started with my wife deciding not to go to the Equinox Festival. This meant that I HAD to go without her. The reason for this was that we were due to go with a friend, and it wouldn't have been fair to have let him down.

I don't believe that I said that you should be silenced.

You said something in the guise of a joke that was hideous. I've already said my piece. I don't like things being deleted however I also don't believe you have the right to inflict such hurtful comments in the name of free speech. As has been pointed out you are not free of consequences

Hurtful ?? I didn’t hurt anyone. You’re overreacting. 🙄

You’ve clearly never met my best mate’s nan.

Artists could easily be done on a case by case basis. Plus they don’t really mingle.

A handful of people who might have travelled overseas compared to hundreds if not thousands who definitely will have isn’t pointless, it’s a significant reduction in risk.

It’s not discriminatory to cancel tickets of people who will be travelling from high risk areas... if you tried to ban all Italians regardless of where they lived it might be?

You know there’s already cases in the uk? The affected area of Italy is basically on lockdown anyway.

Its a nonsense idea that glasto won’t entertain. The festival will either be cancelled or go ahead as usual.

Me, I've got better things to do than be playground monitor to morons. Perhaps bear that in mind?

Genuinely no idea what went down recently re: Chicken Bob's "joke", but it would appear that censorship has happened and that allways bothers me. That said, I've put some pretty errant posts up here from time to time and nothing's ever been removed, so it must have been bad.

The Internet is a cess pit. This place is one of very few beacons of hope in the grand sphere.

Gentle censorship is acceptable (for me) therefore.

Love you all, roll on June, Covid-19 free hopefully :)
