Yeah once we get to that point a distinction needs to be made, maybe fast testing maybe just sign a disclaimer that you know its at your own risk. Some will stand further back and be less crammed in (I prefer this myself in normal times!), whereas others will just go to the pit if they feel safe to do so. 

Or failing that, Virgin Money Arena style venues need to pop up all over the country (perhaps with government help considering how many it would give work to over that time - crew, security, bar staff, sound techs etc) and for other arts than live music they need to make clever use of outdoor spaces like amphitheaters and cram as much entertainment into the summer months as possible.

I think we will break 20k today, I think 21,875. Not feeling optimistic at all especially with NI, Wales and scotland having such high numbers.

My guess for today is 18,346 but we can’t be far off 20k. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s 20k. Also reckon 3 figure deaths aren’t far off.

Theres nothing we can personally do .... Im slowly coming to the thought its absolutely pointless trying to educate people around me people have  such entrenched views ,  similar to brexit .... its all on the government and their messaging ... which doesnt give me any hope either unfortunately ... just gonna have to ride it out

I hate the idea of no gigs ever again, but I can probably just about live with it. I’m getting a bit too old for them anyway.

 

It’s the not being able to spend time with loved ones that kills me. Not everyone lives with their nearest and dearest.

I think maybe daily figures and death obsessions may not be best for peoples mental health... up to you guys, but as the guardaian says, the 'record figures' are still a lot less than March

It’s the not being able to spend time with loved ones that kills me. Not everyone lives with their nearest and dearest. 

never too old mate! My parents were coming to gigs with me in their 60s and were actually at the most recent one I saw in January! One of my favourite memories is seeing Springsteen 4 years ago in the rain with them.

I will be going back to them when they return - which will be next year for anyone willing to do socially distanced ones like in Newcastle. If they could put them on this year with very little notice and a lot of confusion, they definitely will be able to next year.

The single biggest question we need to get to the bottom of: How long does the immunity last?

 

 

If it’s pretty short lived then a cure would be preferable to a vaccine. If we can’t get a cure then we’d be looking at a moonshot type scenario. Short immunity makes the herd immunity idea pretty much unviable.

This is when human rights begins to play its part surely - how can a government actually prevent us from spending time with our family and friends long term? Because without that, there is little point in anything else.

It might be working, because the cases might be much higher if we didn't do it. Reality is we don't know because we can't test it, because all the places are closing at 10. We have nothing to compare it to.

Moonshot itself isn't out the question - they're using them in Japan. It may not be immediate but it's not an impossible task as the tech exists

Why do people keep coming onto a thread about coronavirus, where people are clearly voluntarily coming to talk about corona virus and politics and saying "maybe we shouldn't talk about very crucial pieces of data to do with coronavirus"

Apologies if this has already been discussed but the R number has been lowered to 1.2-1.5 so down one either way, obviously cases are still growing but after the next few weeks could it possibly mean we see a slowed growth?

I've already spoken to my wife and both sets of parents about this.

All agreed we will continue to see each other no matter what.

I don't mind going along with rules or following guidance but there are certain things that are no go areas for me and that's one.
