They don’t count the deaths on a Sunday properly. Wait until Tuesday for the proper death count. KCL covid symptom tracker estimates 252,000 active cases today, which is up 12,000 from a week ago (240,000 last week). This would indicate that the R0 is fluctuating around 1 and therefore it is even more important now than ever before to take extra precautions, as if the R0 goes above 1, that’s the start of the second wave. No it's not silly and I'm sorry if my post sounded rude or dismissive, it wasn't meant that way. It's natural to be worried, but good also to try and keep the worries proportionate to the situation (which sounds in this case sounds like it was very low risk) . I’ve heard that wage over spends have been started to be discussed again of late .. and some of the temps have now gone ... I’m hoping I can stay out the back away from customers but I’d very much like my colleagues to be safe too ... as I’m sure you would with all the kids you teach ... why people seem to be questioning anyone with worries is just bonkers ... Hope you get your wish to remain behind the scenes. Our local supermarket, a Morrisons isn’t big so only so many are allowed in by the security guard, trolley handles disinfected and the check out queue is down one aisle with no goods. Two people in together have to walk in single file. Most folk wear masks, sanitiser is available and tills behind Perspex. Despite all this it’s the one place I still feel insecure and vulnerable. As for schools my ex colleagues are really against reopening unless there is a dramatic improvement in the R. Our term ends in June, usually the glasto weekend, so it’s not too long to go. It would make sense anyway as the last week or so are usually trips away , school shows etc.

You expect there to be lots staff putting their lives at risk In The supermarkets but you are far too special as a teacher to go back to work? Shocker, teacher not wanting to work. Don’t strain yourself. I think I’ve strained myself enough over the last 8 weeks. Do you realise how much of a sweat sitting on your arse doing absolutely nothing for 8 weeks straight works up? I haven’t left the sofa once.

I will also be finding out if the company will be issuing masks for customers without ... this is the problem without it being mandatory . hopefully it becomes more of a thing wearing them as more people cotton on that its the sensible thing to do around other people

I’ve managed to get a Click and Collect every four days while in Lockdown though, either Sainsburys, Asda or Tesco. You meet less people that way. The Tesco in Ayr and the Asda’s in Ayr/Kilmarnock/Ardrossan all offer it.

Seriously, that would mean a drive that would not constitute a necessary journey . Might look at Tesco on line as we’ve used them in the past. Actually started using the local butcher and fishmonger who will take phone orders and deliver to the door. And their stuff is quality.

I'm trying to force myself to go out more, slowly doing more bits like seeing my Dad then seeing a friend next weekend with a beer walking in the park. Trying slowly to build myself back up, as I can see myself easily falling in the trap of not wanting to go outside much at all. 1 hour ago, MEGABOWL said: They’re going well so far but that can change at any second. Spent two weeks teaching after lock down & was fine, if I’m going to get it I’m going to get it somehow is my approach. While I don’t mind going back to work, what I don’t like is that I won’t be able to see my parents as they fall into the vulnerable group. Plus I’m fed up of the kids shouting at me in the street on their bmx’s.
