so what do you do if you have kids?

There is a guy in my team, his wife works as a career for St Barnabas. Unfortunately she contracted the virus and passed it onto her husband. They have 2 kids around the ages of 10-13, they stayed in their home whilst ill and also looked after their children.

It cannot be one rule for one and another for the ruling class.

For a man tasked with coming up with solutions to the government’s problems he does not seem very capable of coming up with solutions for his family, a couple off the top of my head.

His sister drives from Durham and picks up the child.

A government driver takes the child to Durham

Both of these assume that the child was tested,, Gove has stated that his whole family were tested.

They all seem to be rallying around at the moment ... it’s a nightmare for them ... all the big hitters out making statements of defence prove they are worried ...

No Hancock though? And he put a tweet up 2 hours ago so he's had the chance...

Hancock from what I remember doesn’t get on with Cummings.

So they’re all going with the “But it’s a pandemic, how dare you try and score points at such a time” angle are they.

There is one truly despicable trait of human nature that has really come to the fore during all of this. The attitude that as an individual you're completely detached from the rest of society, and what you decide to do is completely unique and not related in any way to everyone else.

Drive two hours to the beach and be outraged to find other people there

Set specific rules that you expect everyone to abide by for very good reason, but then decide it’s ok not to follow them yourself.

This FFS. As if the government would say it was fine for working class single mums to drive across their country to seek childcare help while ill. Outrageous double standard.

I'm furious and I know nothing will be done, which is the worst part. This is the kind of shit that would get me out protesting if it wasn't for the bloody lockdown!

This will show the public what the PM really thinks of them. Cummings is integral to the Govs operations but if they don’t fire him then it’s as a good as admitting they hold us all in complete contempt.

Just holding off in my opinion ... lead by a qc ... so he will get all the amunition together and the responses so he can hammer every single one of them defending him . Holes and digging springs to mind

We all know that they do anyway, but shockingly some people seem to enjoy it.

Oh I know, as we saw in December the public don’t care if they are being lied too. However there will be a time surely that this will change.

The story is now evolving to No. 10 covering it up in April.

It is absolutely infuriating. This is one thing that the government guidance was clear on - if you have symtpoms, you isolate for 7 days within your own home, isolating away from your family inside that home as best you can. Your family then isolate for 14 days.

NOWHERE did it say to make sure the kids are safe by taking them elsewhere first. That would have been carnage. It would have been dangerous. It would have undoubtedly spread the disease even more.

Aarrrghh!

Hmmmmmmm... do know that Hancock was/is big pals with Cameron and that he stayed up with him until the end on Brexit night.

As said before, Cameron previously called Cummings a 'psychopath' and was not best pleased with the leavers after he got forced out (even Gove, who he was previously close to).

Mancock has all but given up now.  He's dead behind the eyes.  The reality of his situation is clear to him.  Last year during the leadership contest in which he and Johnson were running, he said he'd never serve in a Johnson government, then when his chances of winning disappeared he u-turned.

Johnson just picked him up for the useful idiot he is.  He'll be the first to fall for his boss whether he likes it or not.

Yes this would get me off the sofa too! My worry is that the tories will get away with the poor handling of all this mess and just be given excuses.  Been impressed by Starmer, hopefully he will pick this apart.  I do think it is odd that they have not said he needs to go yet but I wonder if that is to keep the story going for longer and continue the pressure on government.

And to echo the other point made somewhere in the thread- for someone who solves problems and develops strategies this plan to go to Durham was shit.

The thing is, he doesn’t care if this is perceived as a bad idea, he genuinely thinks he is above the all the rules he helped to set.
