Yoghurt on a Stick
4 hours ago, Ayrshire Chris said: All those building and construction related services being ‘farmed out’, up here most of that gets decided and contracts agreed at Masonic meetings😊😉 The building maintenance and construction industry is notorious for corruption, the world over. I once had a contractor ask me directly if I wanted to 'go in with him' in robbing my employer. As my employer was a housing charity, and because of a sense of decency, I refused his, very generous, offer. I already knew of a way that it could be done without even the FBI, Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG), or any other forensic sleuth could ever have nailed me (and the contractor) as by the time any invoice was raised, all evidence would have disappeared. I asked the contractor if this was the system that he proposed would have been used. he agreed that it was. he had spotted it too. So, what did I do? I told him 'No' that's not what I wanted. What I wanted was for him to stop taking the piss so much with his prices, and then we'd all be happy ie. I wouldn't get on his case in a deranged obsessive manner. You have to realise that there was one of me, and he had between 12 and 15 blokes working on my contract at any one time. That's like me going out to play a game of rugby against a full team of rugby players. well, who's going towin that match? It's a no brainer that the contractor would win. However, he also knew that if he didn't comply then I'd probably have devoted my life to nailing him to the cross. So he backed off with the excessive prices. The thing is though - it's not just the building industry where this goes on. It's every industry where there's a glut of money swashing about. It's local and national government too. it's everywhere - always has been and always will be.

Well done you, is your tree up yet? Yes, but that was pressure from the kids. I thought I'd bargained for 1st of December but it ended up going up a couple of days earlier than that! Christmas music has worked its way in too.

Yoghurt on a Stick Posted yesterday at 12:47 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:47 PM A friend sent me a photo of 2007's Glastonbury last night. This is good news as I have very few Glastonbury photos. Even better news is that he has more photos in a rich seam of photos he has rediscovered on his computer, and will forward them soon. One day (during covid lockdowns) he was driving through a small town when all the people on the side of the road started clapping him because they though he was NHS staff. How they thought that a bloke with a large Mohican haircut was NHS staff remains unknown. I guess they just looked at the ambulance and clapped Happy to hear that your van got through its MOT skip. Mines a converted Transit Luton. It’s such a relief. What a year! Clutch went in February and then the turbo on the way back from Glastonbury. It seems that new turbos for this model no longer exist. Eventually a friend took it out, had it rebuilt and put it back in. The van has effectively been laid up for nearly six months.
