another four weeks here will drive me nuts.

Now I don't want to kick a man when he's down but there would be a school of thought that would question the word 'drive' in that statement. As in they would argue that you've already arrived. I'm only joking Neil, and I wish you all the best. I tried to discharge myself early through frustration at being in hospital once. On reflection, had I done so, I possibly wouldn't be writing to you now. The thing is, like you know how to run this site, those looking after you know what they are doing too. Try to run with what they advise, if funding allows it / it means a bit longer there.

I tried to do that early on in this hospital stay and discovered they can turn hospital into prison via a denial of liberty order.

Had our 12-week scan and initial test results back. Now announced the new arrival in November to all friends and family. Very excited.

Now, would you take a 7-month-old to Glastonbury or can you leave them with willing grandparents at that stage?

Congratulations!

There's a few threads on it knocking about:

I've never heard of one of them, and they certainly didn't say anything of that nature to me. All they did was plead for me not to leave, get the consultant in to tell me not to leave and then also serve me with the coup de grâce of getting my wife to ring me and TELL me that I wasn't going anywhere.

I now have some reasonable goals to meet for discharge.but the people who decide that I can be discharged are the ones controlling if I'm able to meet those goals withe the amount of Therapy they give me. Which is a bit catch 22 and so frustrating.im now keeping my fingers crossed that the NHS won't shell out for more rehab for me. Cos if they don't the conclusion on whether I'm ready for discharge will suddenly change.

I reckon you could send in @Kizzieand she will let them know that there are far too many jobs at home stacked up for you to do and no way are you staying another 4 weeks otherwise she will lose the plot

The lovely wife has had a letter inviting her to the review meeting next Friday where they'll consider discharging me... But her thoughts right now are that I should probably stick with it and stybin hospital for longer as it might be the difference between a full recovery and being permiabtky crippled.... I don't want to stay her any longer but would prefer the full recovery so a lot hinges on how well thing go over the next week, I already know if a few things next week that might make a big difference one is a Botox injection so I'll have the sexiest legs in the south west. Another is a new and different ankle support and perhaps a decent knee support for an old injury.

You probably know that your wife knows best. Might be a right pain to be in for longer but in the big scheme might be better for you long term.hope the following week goes we though and they let you out

I'm hoping that NHS funding knows best a system designed to stop endless treatments might bring mine to an end.

All getting a bit clearer for me.i can choose to go home if I want to but the wife would have to cover the bits I can't do myself, and I don't want to load tasks onto her. Overall I think I'll improve fastest by having to cope at home with the things I have to cop with not sure how well I'll manage with the stairs I'll be ok but not perfect.the wife came up with the good idea of a video doorbell last night as that would mean id have to tackle the satairsa a bit less be if I didn't have to go down them to answer the door. When I suggested ordering it she said to leave it till I get home so that I'll have to get downstairs to answer the door when the video doorbell arrives.

Looking more dire by the minute. They're putting big efforts into trying to stop me walking out next Friday whereas if they put similar efforts into my needs they wouldn't have to do that. I've got some easily identifiable needs that I flagged up months ago which are not being addressed which they now say need to be addressed before they'll be happy for me to go home.ive also pushed along some other parts of that which I raised because I feared my review would happen before those bits were done and now those bits still aren't done. And a week before the review they're trying to pressure me into agreeing with their tak on things whereas if they'd have put the same efforts into getting things done over the past few weeks they'd be happier to discharge me.

It's a system by which suits the money wants of private NHS service providers but not the patients who have no option on about using those private service providers.
