Acts touring around Glastonbury 2021

Don't see Taylor being in that announcement even if she is playing - she had her own last time. Obviously some new headliners could rule it out. I'd imagine they'll probably announce the headliners we already know are touring like Twenty One Pilots and The Killers, and maybe Gorillaz will be added. Don't expect Billie to be on there, at least yet.

Not really sure where to post this, but Khruangbin interview in NME here talking about the how they arranged their tour around Glastonbury (specifically playing the Friday so they can spend the weekend there) and that they’ll be returning next year:

Big Pyramid slot for Lizzo I’d have thought. I don’t see her getting the sub slot some are seemingly penning her in for, but maybe third down one day.

I'd love to see her sub, but I could see her in a similar position to Miley/Katy Perry.

Personally I think sub is an obvious slot for Lizzo if she's there. And since it seems like we've lost two of them, maybe three, it fits together nicely.

I know she was already active this year so it's not exactly news, but if festivals are looking out for replacements she may have had a few calls. Don't think she's a slam dunk but I think there's a chance.

She’s still in the ascendancy unlike those two so I don’t think she should have to settle for that.

I agree she's very much on the up - I think she could follow a similar path to Solange or Janelle Monae to be honest, and be back to headline West Holts in a few years.

I think she'd be brilliant on the Pryamid, she has a wider appeal.

Lizzo has far surpassed WH headliner imo. Wit the size of the crowd she got last year she could’ve done it then - now she’s high Pyramid or nothing, and only getting bigger.

Fair enough - I would hope they'd get her as a sub if possible in that case, who knows!

Genuine question (as I wasn't there) - what kind of crowd did Janelle get last year? Lizzo's crowd was the biggest I've ever seen at West Holts (day or night) but I haven't been there much for headliners.

I think she’d definitely be an act that Emily would want back and if she’s around I reckon it fits up nicely.

Well confused at the argument that she isn’t a sub though. In my view she’s floating in a position between sub and a headline. If she has another massive single / album I think she’s got a pretty good case to headline.

@FloorFiller - I think you’re doing a “me” where I thought Stormzy wasn’t big enough because I wasn’t thinking about his forthcoming second album. Sometimes I think you have to ask yourself - if they had another hit album what sort of set would they probably command?

*thats not me saying she will headline 2021 - more that if she plays she will be one of the biggest acts on the lineup.

Yeah you may be right. She’s currently about third down the Pyramid, but any new material (assuming it’s bangers) is gonna propel her further. If not 2021 for the reasons dental gave, then 2022 should hopefully be a lock.

I said this in another thread but in my opinion her and Dave are an album away from being a pretty huge force on the festival circuit. I can’t see either of them bringing out a flop anytime soon either.

Cuz I Love You seemed to take forever to come out. The stakes are higher on the next one so things may speed up but the next album won’t be out in twelve months and I’d say before 2022 wouldn’t be guaranteed either.

I’m pretty sure she’s been in the studio recently. Did I read somewhere she’d been in the studio with Pharrell?

Even if she released it in the summer it wouldn’t change anything.

I can’t dismiss it entirely but she’s going to be in the studio for a lot of things that aren’t new album sessions. She has barely had time off tour to find the songs she wants to pinch for a new record yet never mind record them.

Watching Lizzo on BBC 2 last night she's bound to be back ASAP.

She's got to up her back line though and get a band. Singing along to a CD is fine in a mid-afternoon slot but she would be a tour de force with a full band. The production in the songs is crying out for it.

Yeah I always thought that Lizzo with a Homecoming band would be something mad. Just like Beyoncé did at Coachella.  She touched on that a bit in the good as hell music video, and I reckon with a full band she’d be insane!
