Was a big fan of the 2 Last of Us games (if with some reservations on Part II), so wasn't sure what to make of how a TV adaptation would go. But the first one had a film-like feel to it and some great writing, so was hopeful it would be good, and the first episode is very much a strong start. I look forward for the next 8 bits.

Though I'll be fair, a part of me is thinking "Spread over the next 8 weeks? But I want it now". Maybe I've been spoiled by Netflix/Prime doing all-in-one content drops.

Never played the games so no real reference  (have a vague idea what they are about, mostly from reading about the show) but just as a standalone show without that connection I thought the first episode was great. The two leads are/will be brilliant. A few moments where they really let you know we are not fucking around here.

I am trying not to read Last of Us posts as I haven't watched it yet. Looks promising though!

Yesterday was Happy Valley day and I have to think it was funny how I thought how British cops were brave to go and do a big arrest without armed support... until almost retired Super Robocop Sergeant Cawood tackled and punched that young lad like a 6 nation champ 😁. Go Catherine ! Go Catherine!

Watched the last of us  seemed OK so will stick with.

Finished Alice in Borderland. Told to watch it by my daughter  it was certainly a fun watch. Could pick certain holes with it but was enjoyable enough to watch to the end.  Mrs Q dropped out after 2 eps in S1.

When Motown came Britian - brilliant and really interesting, not a story I knew anything about. Some real passion shown.

Sue Perkins, perfectly legal  - I like Sue and was great fun to watch, some serious drinking going down and some mad stuff in south America. Worth it to see Sue's tripping face

Started watching US Traitors. My god they're annoying. Very different to UK. Not much in the way of teamwork. How many narcissists can you put in one place?

Yeah it’s quite ‘American’ in its production and I think the inclusion of reality TV ‘celebs’ doesn’t help, but it’s worth sticking with. Not as good as the UK one but still an enjoyable show.

As a non game player I found The Last of Us pilot middling. The escape sequence was great, but I found the second part of the episode a bit muddled and clichéd.

I'll stick with it though.

Indeed! It was ok enough, I love a good post apocalyptic show, but I wasn't wowed overall. I am going to have a mental comparison running with Station Eleven though I'm afraid. Seeing Anna Torv was a nice surprise though and I like the main actor. Can't remember where I know him from though.

I’ve now dispatched the US version of The Traitors. I can see what they were trying to do by adding reality TV show stars but I still think a mix of ordinary people makes for a better show. I’m now on to the Australian version 🤪

Yep I finished it as well. I think ordinary people is essential. Interestingly apparently they are not told the number of traitors so I wonder if that is something that could change in future seasons although like Big Brother I think the first season is going to be the best.

The Aussie version is the first I’ve seen to play with the format slightly. 24 players, 4 traitors. No celebs but carefully chosen players with some interesting aspects to them (criminal lawyer, professional psychic, hostage survivor, strategist, etc.).

Oooh will have to see if I can find that anywhere. I really like the social psychology aspect of it. It makes me laugh so much the way they talk about whether someone looks sneaky or not. I mean everyone of them turned up willing to play either role and the only difference between them all is a shoulder tap.

The Americans when they were saying Rachel said it's just a game that must mean she's a traitor or actually it means she's the only one who has sussed that it is a game.

Just finished the first one. Alright I suppose.

Same here. WIthout Natasha Lyonne I probably wouldn't go further though. Interested to see where it's going.

I have one last episode of Slow Horses to watch, quite excited about the grand final!

I started His Dark Materials, normally not really my kind of show but am surprisingly enjoying it.

About to ditch Netflix tomorrow so have been watching a few things on there over the last week. Watched Kaleidoscope which was ok if you like Heist stuff. Not brilliant but not awful either.

Watched The Martha Mitchell Effect documentary short as it has been oscar nominated and it was quite good. I don't really know much about Watergate other than the main headlines so it was interesting for me. Think tonight we'll try and watch Bank of Dave.

Does Natasha Lyonne continue to play Natasha Lyonne as she does in all the Natasha Lyonne vehicles? I’m bored of that.

THat's the thing with this show (well first episode), as much as I am enjoying her presence, there's not much else. Russian Doll had a bit more to it.
