What telly progs are you bingeing on?

I know that The Last of Us has only aired 5 episodes but is it time that we start to talk about it as one the greatest ever TV shows?

There’s still time for it to botch the ending, and I’m not sure about ‘greatest ever’, but it’s another home run for HBO that’s for sure, and the two leads (and everybody else, mind) are nailing it despite what some dipshits on the internet may be saying.

I don't know if its because gaming is a more immersive entertainment medium or because its staying so close to the games story line so I know what happens but I'm finding myself switching off and playing with my phone through a lot of the episodes.

It’s almost definitely recency bias for me but I do genuinely think it’s an incredible show. You are high and the end of the season will go a big way to determining whether this is a truly great show or not.

I mean, I did ponder if it would be a tricky one to get into as a let's play of the original game on YouTube is still 10 hours of good quality drama. But yeah, the cast is good, the branch out from Joel/Ellie moments when picked have added depth to it, and they've got the look of the Clickers and Bloaters just right. So, yeah, I'm happy with how its gone so far. There's a few action set-pieces I'd have kept, but I'm not gonna say its a dealbreaker yet.

Adapting Part 2 I think might be more difficult as that game is so sprawling and dense.

Edge of Darkness is on BBC4 tonight. Almost 40 years on, still compelling, of its time but not dated. Catch it if you can, not least for Clapton's theme music.

He's very good, as are some of the other characters and there's enough intrigue to keep it rolling along.

Started watching Gold, just after listening to the podcast about John Palmer, my Dad always used to mentioned him when we drove past the house he smelted the gold at. Amazing most of the gold is still circulating

Finished Slow Horses season 2. Very well paced and still loving Oldham, but can’t get past how awful the ‘Spider’ character and the Home Secretary are. Almost pantomime bad, with absurd dialogue and decision making. It’s spoilt whenever they’re on screen, for me. Aside from that, an excellent show!

Inside Our Autistic Minds iplayer/bbc2, only a two parter and enlightening if you only know a limited amount about the condition. Its far from the diverting light entertainment I'd normally watch on a late Friday, but was very glad I did.

Season 3 of Picard started this week, episode one was pretty good. I’m intrigued as to who the new alien race is and the mystery behind it. Good start so far.

I enjoyed it. Seeing more of a human side of Clarkson rather than being the usual idiot all the time. 
 

Highlights a lot of issues facing farmers right now.

He's clearly not an idiot, a friend used to tell me he's just playing up to a character, but for me that illusion was shattered when he threw his dolly out because he didn't get a hot dinner.  

Since then I can't bear to watch a second of anything that will enrich his corpulent arse.

Slightly different vibe to a lot of show's discussed here but really enjoying 'The Warship: Tour of Duty' on iPlayer. A nice easy watch and find it fascinating seeing inside things like.

Really enjoyed Funny Woman on sky. Gemma Arterton was fantastic - even if she was clearly too old for the part!
