Yeah, I’ve been indulging in the For You tab over the election to see some different points of view and (foolishly, it seems) dunking on right wingers, but f**k that now - gonna be unbearable. Not wanting to punish the people who didn’t vote for him, but I really hope his economic plan is as disastrous as many people have predicted and the people who voted for him suffer because of it. That's the way to win next time. Just like the losers response to Brexit. Don't ry and understand why it happened. Just stay in a bubble and have a tantrum. The for you algorithm is so skewed. I happened to call somebody that was blaming the grey skies in the UK on chemtrails a moron and now my feed is full of people asking why the sky is grey in winter.🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️

This happening elsewhere too and will likely increase, old right conservative parties being replaced by populists...who target migrants and net zero As you say the same thing is happening in Europe. I'm not sure the centre left parties can adapt. Their liberal activists despise their traditional working class voters.

steviewevie
The other big issue in this election was immigration...often coming in at number 2 behind the economy in people's concerns polling..and this hurt Harris and helped Trump, and he really milked it with his eating pets nonsense that did cut through. kalifire
Kamala ran a flawless campaign given how much time she had. Biden should have handed over the reigns about six months prior. She never really got to introduce herself properly to America. Also, there are swathes of medieval voters in America who can’t fathom electing a woman. Moving forward, we have to hope that the Dems grow a pair and start fighting dirty, obstructing with litigation at every possible measure until they (probably) regain the senate in 2026. We also have to hope that Trump was full of sh*t about his proposed policies just to try and appeal to his base.

As far as I can see initially markets seem to think higher inflation/ less interest rates cuts on tariff's so dollar up / gold down. US manufacturing up (Tesla up 12%) importers down (porsche down) China in the sh*t and will stimulate more. All time high in Bitcoin ($75k as Trump is pro-crypto) Edited 1 hour ago by lost

Social media isn’t where it’s at. It’s with influencers, predominantly podcasters.
zahidf
I feel massively down obviously and think the world is screwed now. I can only hope things can only get better, but it's clear democracy is massively on the ropes. I'm glad I don't have kids. Feel bad for my nephews though. One of the reasons why I felt Brexit happened was because the Remain campaign didn't really provide a positive reason to vote for staying until after the referendum tbf. Fat load of good that was. I'm not sure what is next tbf. At the very least I think the Democrat party needs a clearout of some names that have just not proven up to it.
