My wife went to the Commons as a guest of our MP, it was the end of 2019, the day of prorogation, the chamber was full, Bercow in full force.  We have a few copies of the day's agenda, for history.

Many moons ago during a local gov strike we lobbied labour MP's to support our position at the House (I worked for City of Westminster at the time). Interesting how they take your note into the house and give it  to your requested MP who then chooses whether they come out to speak to you. Got to meet Brian Gould (shows how long ago it was) as well as Joan Ruddock and Dennis Skinner, who then took came with us back to the picket line.

I'd love to see them if you can scan them? To be there for that day must've been an experience.

Last time it happened it took 2 months.

Timescale doesn’t really matter. He’s out on the 20th regardless.

What does matter is that impeachment means he and his family won’t get any of the perks of being a former president. He would become a private citizen with no financial compensation and security detail.

More importantly he will be banned from being allowed to run for political office again.

While all that would be great (and hilarious), it would require a third of Republican senators to vote against Trump - right now it seems like they'll get maybe 3 if they're lucky. Ultimately it's going to end up as a symbolic gesture (which is probably important in itself).

Was gonna say, I've heard Pelosi getting slated by punits for being too soft. She's basically the embodiment (apparently) of the wing of the Dems that just wants to ignore the whole problem and pretend it isn't happening.

Pretty much. The 14th amendment coming into play is a huge factor now and the gop reps who went against certification can be removed with a simple majority. Lets just imagine that for a second. 138 members of the house can just go away. She will get a lot of praise for that if she isnt bluffing. Cause itll give momentum for senators to be removed too.

And this is how she really feels about a certain person who prob gets her job soon.

I went a few years ago, guest of my MP with my brother in law. Walked past Louise Mensch tweeting away, Lord David Owen doing something lordly, She bought us a couple of pints from the Strangers Bar and we sat on the Terrace drinking them and having a tab with her. Went all round Westminster Hall and through the tunnel into Portcullis House, where I saw Corbyn and Cameron (not together). Fascinating experience but......divorced from reality. A proper bubble. .

I've been trying not to sound like a proper showoff but I've been on the piss more than once there. Including out on the deck overlooking the Thames in the sun. One time I walked past Malcolm Rifkind on the way in (I'm really showing off now).

Why did Mensch get the round in?!

Walked past Miley Cyrus twerking away, Lord Mik Artistik doing something lordly, She bought us a couple of ciders from the Brothers Bar and we sat on Williams Green drinking them and having a tab with her. Went all round The Park and through the tunnel into The Rabbit Hole, where I saw Corbyn and The Dalai Lama (not together). Fascinating experience but......divorced from reality. A proper bubble.

You just write to your local MP I think.

I went there on a working thing and she gave us a tour, a pint and a tab as a bonus.

Just discussing Parler with my mate and he sent me this. Comedy gold:

Someone went on there and posted a thread saying for people to post their names, locations, and the crimes they committed in Washington so that trump could go through the list and pardon them. And people actually did. So the FBI will have that as well

It's nice having this thread for a bit of balance. I go to the 'when will this shit end?] thread for the info, then into here for the LOLs.

(Full sympathy to any of our American friends (like @steviewevie- obvs) that was a joke)

Me too. ( go murica! ) it’s fine that we provide comic relief. It just makes you feel better about your own countrymen. Best we can it stay number 1 at something.
