Maybe Trump winning is the best hope for peace in the middle east?

No, No and thrice No.

Trump and Netanyahu are in major cahoots, so the only way he'd broker peace is by enabling Netanyahu to commit genocide, thus ending the conflict.

After Trump's latest rally, i'm now thinking the October Surprise could actually be a serious medical event, a stroke or similar.

Was thinking earlier, Biden stroking out just in time for him to be switched for Kamala and Trump stroking out immediately before the election would be such a perfect series of happenings.

Netanyahu is already commiting genocide. Trump pulling off a peace deal that eluded Biden would be the ultimate prize, Netanyahu more likely to want to work with Trump.

Being mr pessimist I was thinking Trump would stroke out after elected and we're left with JD Vance.

Well yeah that’s unfortunately the more likely scenario if they manage to drag him across the finish line. Fully believe that Vance being his VP is purely so Elon and/or Peter Thiel can have their yes man as President once Trump inevitably doesn’t make it far in to his possible second term because Vance would never win on his own. Trump is just a useful idiot until then.

Netanyahu certainly more likely to work with Trump, but neither one of them has any desire for Israel to stand down. Trump just wouldn’t put in the hours to make this happen, and once elected will stop caring about point scoring against Biden. For him, this is no way the ‘ultimate prize’ because there is zero fiscal gain there.

well he did that Abraham Accords thing, was there any fiscal gain for US with that?...maybe that could be part of any deal, with Saudi Arabia coming on board which actually may or may not help the Palestinian cause.

I hope if Harris comes in she will have a tougher line with Israel and be more successful.

When I talk about fiscal gain here, I mean for Trump himself, not the US. I don't know enough about it in this case to discern Trump's motives but he is always for personal gain. I do believe the accords are good - any increase in diplomacy between any two nations is almost always positive, and I'll acknowledge Trump's positive role here. However, the work needed to achieve this kind of agreement is a million miles away from what is required in Isreal / Palestine / Lebanon.

I also hope Harris is stronger against Israel than Biden has been, and maybe she won't be. But make no mistake, Trump absolutely would not be - he is very pro-Netanyahu, very pro-strongman and very anti-arab.

I'm sure he would love the nobel peace prize to go on his golden mantlepiece.

Apparently he's been whining Obama got one. But his entire political career seems to have been based on whining about Obama given one of his first "steps" into this arena was spreading the birther conspiracy bullshit, which - talk about choosing your accolades.

So Kamala is going on Fox News tonight while Trump apparently agreed to an interview with the more left-leaning MSNBC then bailed. Seems like one of them is feeling bolder than the other.

Very interested to see how this goes. The interviewer seems to be one of the few people left on Fox with any journalistic integrity, but I hope she’s prepared for a bunch of hardball questions. If she pulls it off and comes off well it could prove to be a genius move in appealing to any Republicans who are on the fence about voting for Trump again.

Seemed to go relatively well. Few ‘gotcha’ questions that she stumbled over a little but then she also bit back the few times they tried to cover for Trump, and he also seemed to just try and talk over her a lot whenever she went hard on Trump but she kept at it and didn’t let him stop her.

wasn't it all about her trying to distance herself from Biden? The big problem for Harris is how unpopular Joe Biden is.

For a minute I thought it was suggesting Labour was going to advise the Democrats on how to "sort your housing". Which I guess is one way to make an impression, not least given how UK housing policy is seen as a bit of a maze.
